Tech Billionaire Sridhar Vembu On Building Zoho, Village Economy, Silicon Valley & AI

Join Mr. Sridhar Vembu in this insightful business podcast by Josh Talks as we delve into the remarkable journey of an entrepreneur who defied expectations. Vembu, a man who initially dreamt of becoming a professor, took an unexpected turn and ended up founding Zoho, a global software powerhouse based in India.
The podcast explores Vembu's early shift away from abstract mathematics towards the thrill of building tangible products. We'll hear about the challenges faced by Zoho in its early days, including financial struggles and the dot-com bubble burst. Through it all, Vembu emphasizes the importance of resilience, long-term vision, and continuous investment in research and development.
This episode goes beyond just business. Vembu delves into his unique approach to building a company culture and his decision to keep Zoho independent, prioritizing long-term growth over short-term gains. He also discusses the potential for a billion-dollar business in a field often overlooked: precision engineering.
The conversation doesn't shy away from the challenges of the future. Vembu tackles the potential impact of AI on employment and the environment, advocating for increased R&D in rural development and a focus on achieving a balance between technological progress and human well-being.
This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in entrepreneurship, innovation, and building a company with a social conscience. Join us as we discover the story of Sridhar Vembu, the unlikely entrepreneur who dared to be different.

Excellent conversation, MUST watch. As one of the user of Zoho, I can vouch for the quality of the products. Sridhar has truly built a International IT products company. In 90's, you can hardly name IT products company made out of India. Probably he could have built bigger and faster if he had decided to funding/market route. However he choose not to go that way, built with private funds. Despite these achievements what is more impressive is his way of living. He is leading by example and moved to small village and living a very simple and spiritual life. I also i like his thoughts on R & D and Rural Dev(RD). I hope youngsters get inspired by his way of building business and way of life. My best wishes to Sri. Sridhar. Last but not the least, kudos to Aakash the way he conducted the interview by giving lot of face time to guest.

Sir the concept on focusing on RD is ok but why we are trying to run the western race why can't we focus on the sector we are good and like 80% of the fertilizer are owned by foreign company and the technology market is captured by others so first we to become self sufficient for our strength they if we focus on RD on capital good will become easy as we will be able to generate sufficient profit by reducing the imports on basis consumer good.ikd wheather i have explained correctly but . I am extremely supportive with your view ❤
