YOU CAN DOWNLOAD ALL MY FILES FOR FREE AT www.theexcelchallenge.com
Learn a quick way to put a conditional format to your charts using the IF formula, and the "greater than" and "less than" conditions.
I hope this concept is something you can use in your daily routine so you get more with less effort.

A million thank yous for this video. This quick process has cut down on my presentation prep by a lot. Thank you again!!
This video was just what I needed. Thanks for this. I’ve been stuck on a graph like this for hours trying to format!
I keep changing the value of one of the 'Sales Target' so that the bar keeps changing from green to red and vice-versa, and it amazes me every time. Thank you!
very helpful. Thank you!
Brilliant and thanks for sharing :-)
Thanks for clarifying this trick

Very useful thanks
Nice idea
Hi! This video helped me a lot, but i have a question, it is possible to format an specific color for a specific name? for example i have 4 subjects and i would like to designate a color for an specific subject, is that possible?
This has really helped me. I need help one step further. When you use this method and place data labels on each bar you get the "0" number at the bottom of each bar, how can you get rid of that?
Hi Thanks, It was really good. When I tried to display the by "Add Data Labels", it shows 0 when it is displaying. Instead of actual values. Please help me
wow!!!
how to use the 'if' formual if we have 2 target valuse (e.g. between 2 limits or range like -2 to +2).
this in case of two options, If I have three options what would I do.
Can this be done with 3d Bar charts?
This is acceptable for line chart also same logic please tell
if i write in the cell =if(B2>=E2,B2,"") the second B2 won´t turn blue like it does for you and i get an error i can´t figure out what i´m doing wrong

Hello Glenn and thanks for watching. Try replacing , for ; I have seen Excel works different between operating systems and different regions of the world. Hope that helps. T-E-CH
Hi how to do this in eccell 2010, as it doesn't have facility to get data lable from another cell
When I add data labels, both data labels appear (target met and target not met) for example, my table is guest satisfaction in a hotel. Room service surpassed the 85% target, they´re on 89%. Now on the table appears a green colum with 89%, but at the bottom, 0%, representing the red(invisable) colum of "target not met"). How to eliminate this?

Not a fix, but a workaround would be to reverse the colour for the label. So the label colour for achieved would be red (and therefore show against the green background), but the hidden 0% would be green and therefore not visible
I'm pretty new to excel and it may just be I am missing something, but when you delete that column at the beginning of the first graph, you don't explain what you're doing to get rid of it and I can't figure out what you did.

its not deleted, its just not being selected for part of the chart. When the chart is clicked on, the cells that the data is coming from are highlighted. He just drags the border to take column B out. You can do it another why by selecting the chart, then on the ribbon selecting the design tab, then "select data"
Hi how do i contact u, i want to discuss n get u r help

Ok... clearly you're an Excel Expert. Maybe you could help me format something. Ok, let me lay it out for you. I have one excel sheet (we'll call it Sheet2) that auto-refreshes it's data from a website, so the positions of the data can and will change from update-to-update. I have a second excel sheet (we'll call it Sheet1), where I'm trying to conditionally format the cell (if that's what I'm even supposed to be doing) to pull data from Sheet2... Layout... *Sheet2* Column A is the Name, Column B is a Number corresponding to Column A's Name. What I want to do in Sheet1 is have conditional formatting (over whatever I'm really looking to do) search Sheet2 for a name, then update a cell in Sheet1 with the corresponding number from Sheet2 Column B (Number). Example: Column A Column B John $85.00 Carl $45.00 Paul $610.00 Steve $58.00 I want to be able to write a formula to search for Paul, then plug in an input for the $610.00 from Column B. Is that possible?

Hello Paul, Yes, it is possible!!! However, if I understood correctly you want to use the formula VLOOKUP so you can vertically lookup Paul and obtain $610 from column 2. If the value Paul can repeat more than once, then you want to use SUMIF, meaning sum column B every time you find the value Paul in column A. You follow? I trust that helps.
