We trace the evolution of Japanese society -- including the tensions between its peaceable, Buddhist-inspired aspect and its martial aspect; its extraordinary transformation in the Meiji period, from an antiquated hermit kingdom to a dynamic modern power; and its crucial alliance with its European mirror image, Great Britain - which set the stage for its role in the First World War.

Will there be a similar series on WW2? Would be particularly interested to hear your take on the matter. I'd also like to complement you on your delivery style in both the script and your voice inflection in general. It's extremely hard for me to find content which has a nice conversational flow in terms of the script and also how the script is delivered. So many people have just weird ways of delivering a script: like not knowing how to inflect a sentence naturally, leaving a sentence on an up note always, or just random inflections that make no sense. People do this other thing of like saying three words at a time - like "so we went, into the place, and the japanese, said to everyone..." etc. Even lots of professional audiobooks are just really weird and awkward. Audiobooks are also not as good as your content because the conversational style that you give your lectures are just better for listening and retaining information. You've also done a pretty good job to keep political biases fairly neutral which is also an impossible task to ask of especially today. Keep up the good work! God bless

The chinese cultural revolution seems another fascinating topic with not a lot of material out on it it seems, especially from a more neutral take.

I will certainly have WW2 in mind. I think it is remarkable how different it is from the first war, and how ideologically charged it was from the start
