    Blood Angels and White Scars are the best Legion. The very best of humanity. The tragic angels having to fight against theire very nature at every turn but still holding and still be the examplars for the Astates and the riders of Chagoris, the brave souls who ride for a imperium that does not trust them, not for the corrupt goverment or the tyranical emperor but for the people who define it. I love them and if i were to make a space marine army it would be the sons of the warhawk.

I must say that I hadn't given Jaghatai a chance till now: after listening to the Adeptus Ridiculous episode, I just thought he was arrogant and superior, but frankly he's even more 'human' than Vulkan in the sense of being relatable. Loving how you've embraced this universe!

    1:30:35 I think this is really interesting too. They're like brothers who were all raised abroad, became legends on their own and were then introduced to their other brothers as grown men in a "Welp, here's your brother! Say hi! " type of way. It's super awkward, they're being cautious but defensive and there's alot of dick measuring going on. Malcador and the Big E obviously wanted them to be more close according to them so they can have a more, less hostile brotherly rivalry. I think it's the "Joy" of raising them Malcador was referring to. Fun fact: While Dorn was preparing the defense of Terra and was tearing everything unecessary down, he came across these apartment type rooms and they were all Primarch sized. He presumed it's where they were supposed to be raised if all went to plan, like a real family.

    Chogoris is basically Planet Mongolia. i love that Jaghatai and his marines ALL speak "Mr Miyagi Engrish" specifically so anyone speaking to them is given the wrong impression and back-footed (THEY don't need to know i speak 76 languages fluently, only I need to know that). it's 'normal' for people to forget he's there or that his legion do the work they do.... because they're so good at it and don't really care about "shine" or headline-grabbing. the White Scars started out life as the pioneer companies of the Star Hunters, blazing the trail out from Terra into the wider galaxy. elements of the legion being spread so wide that sometimes whole planets were being found/documented/scouted by as few as a squad (5-20 marines). FUN FACT- it was they who first located Horus' home planet of Cthonia. they said "this place sucks, it's a next of vipers coiling in the dark. we should glass it and keep moving." Horus is said to have heard this and just laughed.

  • @Kelschman96
    @Kelschman9611 ай бұрын

    He's underrated because a lot of fans see jaghatai and the white scars and just think "oh they're just mongols on jetbikes" and leave it at that. Which is funnily very lore accurate, since thats exactly what the imperium did too. As soon as the imperium integrated chogoris, "Look at these barbarians zooming around on jet bikes" is basically what anyone who came in contact with the 5th legion thought, except for a chosen few outsiders who actually took the time to get to know them. Fans seem to forget about them a lot too, which is also lore accurate since so did the imperium. The white scars didn't really care enough to try and change their image either, they were who they were and it didn't matter to them what others thought about it. They wore their heritage proudly, but they never boasted of their prowess in battle and rarely remained long enough after conquering a system to recieve accolades for their actions. They were always on the move, always on the fringe of the great crusade. It also doesnt help that until the horus heresy novels started coming out, the 5th legion wasn't especially well covered in the lore. From what I can tell, there isn't a lot of 40k novels that follow them or their succesor chapters, which is a shame. Thankfully now we are learning more about jaghatai and his legion, and it seems more fans are coming around to them. They are definitely one of my favorite legions that I've read about as I've gone though the horus heresy series, and I hope now that fan interest is increasing GW starts putting more resources into fleshing them out in 40k.

    Why are they underrated? I think it is something as simple as them being the "Asian Flavored" subfaction garnered them slightly less interest with the early UK based fanbase and they never gained as much momentum as the more popular loyalist legions/chapters. AKA The Neo-Knights of the Dark Angels/Black Templars and Neo-Roman Ultramarines, etc. In a way it has turned out to be a blessing, because when it came time to write Horus Hersey Books, Chris Wraight was given the green light to make the Khan and the legion in general really special and not overly burdened with fatal flaws.

    Jaghatai Khan is a primarch who doesn't shout his accomplishments or wear his achievements on his shoulders. Rather than dazzle his opponents with how terrifying a warrior he is, the Khagan of Chogoris specializes in making himself appear insignificant, revealing his skills ONLY when the time when they are needed is approaching. I myself have fallen into this pitfall for the longest time, wherein the only thing I knew about the white scars was that Jaghatai was their primarch, their homeworld is Chogoris, and they specialize in high-speed warfare with lots of men on mounts, only instead of horses, the Imperium gave them space marines on assault bikes and in land speeders.

    Despite the blood angels being my absolute favorite, I can't help but think about how silly it is that every time sanguinius is brought up in a novel, the author always has to tell the reader how pretty he is 🤣 Though there is one fantastic short story called "The Passing of Angels" where sanguinius and his personal order of blood angels battled an enemy who used terrible weapons of war, walking and flying though a storm of deadly flames and radiation. He comes out basically looking like a walking corpse. It's a great way of showing that sanguinius doesn't care about his appearance in the way a vanity-obsessed primarch like fulgrim would, as well as showing how human he feels despite his angelic features. Here's the passage: I stand on the topmost tower of the mountain city. The heat of the flames is crawling into the bare flesh of my face. Soot marks my features. My hair has burned to my scalp, and the gold of my armour is black with the touch of fire and blood. My cheeks are blistered by radiation and charred by the fire I have passed through. It will heal in the time it takes me to return to my ship in orbit, but for now I do not look like an angel of light and beauty - I am the angel of ruin, whose passing makes the sleeping wake in terror. Alepheo drops into the ruins beneath me. His red armour is scarred and flame darkened. He looks up at me with a dead silver face that is shedding eternal tears. 'It is done,' he says. I can hear the weight in the words. He will bear the scar of this in his dreams, and it will creep into the poems he paints in the languages of the dead. He will understand then that we are angels. Beauty does not belong to us; it is what we must burn to be what we are.

    Beautiful passage, Sanguinius would be a boring throw away character in any other setting but he is so humble and down to Earth. I tried not to like him for a while but I just can't. There's a comment I've seen that describes the difference between Sangy and Fulgrim and the different ways they're "perfect" and it goes something like this: Fulgrim is the friend that chooses his perfect outfit a full 3 days before an event and applies copious amounts of make up to feel prettier on the day, before then pulling up and looking astounding. Sanguinius is the friend that wakes up, grabs whatever out of his closet and pulls up still looking breath taking while with sincerity saying something like "Sorry I'm late, I just had to slap something on and this was it, so don't make fun of me. Они застряли на не выгодной местности и не знают откуда ждать удара. И ночью: несколько сокрушительных атак с разных сторон и отход, затем ещё и ещё. Пока враг не побежит и не поймёт, это Конец.

    Obviously is speculation, but I think a not-nailed Angron would have been a kindred spirit to Jagathai. At least in their rebuke of the Imperial Truth dogma.

    "W.S. are not traitors"... 10 min later really? ^_^ I think Magnus when had last meeting with Jaghatai was already in bad spot/lied. Alpha Legion is the best I wish on the end (in next 20 book or 10 years) we will all know that they was on the "right" side. Please watch PERTURABO next :)

    I am Alpharius.. You are Alpharius.. The alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. Alpha legion, the most interesting legion by far. The most loyal and traitorous. God I wish Alpharius is the next to "come back", and on the other hand I know he has always been "back".. Behind the scenes, plucking strings, just as he was ment to do..

    Most people like Jaghatai a lot but they also forget about him a lot too. Its less the fact that he doesn't scream his accomplishments and more that he's solitary and always on the fringes of the crusade. This kind of results in him just having less involvement with a lot of his brothers and most events. The dude is literally stuck on the physical and narrative fringes of the setting and his sons followed him there screaming and revving their jetbikes the whole way. I also think the fact the white scars don't have a geneseed flaw and are kind of just all the best parts of Jaghatai so they don't have that tragedy or conflict probably adds to the lack of interest. 40k fans love their tragic angsty past and its kind of not there with him (his dad DID die but that's all) but that's kind of the appeal for me. Just a buncha stoic dudes that stop being stoic and slow to act the second there's any going fast and laughing your ass off to be done

    Most people play whitescars very wrong. I have watched so many battles where people play them without using they strengths. Poor set up, poor troop choice, bad generalship. What you don't know at this point is that the duplicitous Alpha legion, which is probably the largest legion, has infiltrated all legions, and here infiltrated the scars warrior lodges, and have been planting sedition and taking over the legion.

    Contrary to what some people believe, Magnus does not know the Emperor's true name and Jaghatai was clearly meant for Chogoris and not for Chemos, Magnus is a deluded skizo liar, do not take what he says as fact. Jaghatai is awesome and for those of us who have been reading all the Heresy books he is not underrated, the Khagan is a legend, a top 5 duelist among the Primarchs, I rate the Khagan and the Lion as the two best swordsmen. I cannot wait for him to return and teach Fulgrim a lesson.

    The khan is one of the most well written Primarchs once re united with his legion , but his along with Angron has to be some of laziest origin stories ever.Angron is basically Spartacus & Jagatai is Chingis Khan from the secret history of the mongols I’m surprised that the Mongolian government hasn’t sued games workshop. TBF It isn’t the first time games workshop have done this. Lion el Johnson King Arthur / Tarzan. Sanguinus Paul Maud dib lol The original base story of 40k is such an unsubtle ripoff of Dune I’m surprised frank Herbert’s estate haven’t taken legal action God Emperor, navigators the great crusade lol .Sweet Jesus Ciaphuis Cain is George McDonald Frasers Flashman but set in space. Don’t get me wrong I’m a fan but how games workshop have the unmitigated cheek to copyright strike anyone is beyond me. They have gotten away with for years because 40k was niche. But it’s becoming more and more popular a lot more people are going to start noticing the glaring similarities. The ironic thing is when dune 2 hits a lot of people will be saying it’s a 40k rip off lol
