I LOVE the subtle shadow you put behind the vehicles. It highlights the object of the shot without being so intrusive like a circle or arrow. A lot of times when I make small edits I wonder if people will notice them, so I want you to know that people do notice your subtle edits.

The thing about this mechanic that’s amazing to me is that it’s exactly how BOTW should have had a take on a crafting system… people complained about the lack of crafting system but how often do optional crafting systems in open world games get forgotten about in the first 10 minutes? This mechanic would put the crafting into real time just like the cooking, and campfire making mechanics. You didn’t just get the materials, hit a button, and a vehicle got summoned in. You cobbled it together yourself! It’s perfectly in line with how the other game mechanics function
@Buglin_Burger7878

You could apply that same logic to shrines, as soon as you find Hearty food suddenly Shrines have lost almost all use. Stamina food is common... Most of BotW is something you can ignore after the first 10 minutes and this is especially true in Speedruns. BotW is 99.99% pure optional and often it is detrimental to participate in aspects of it.

@@Buglin_Burger7878 I agree with that, I hope Tears of the Kingdom does a better job maintaining a difficulty curve. I'm glad i'm not the only one who had that thought. It's likely integrated directly into the physics engine, so my bet is the hot air balloon will be operated using not just the wind, but fire as well. It's like they looked at the cooking with collecting ingredients/dropping them physically into a cooking pot and said: "let's do that with everything" & now we have quadcopters built with random bits and bobs collected from the environment. I bet to piece vehicles together you use the new kinesis arm power to rotate the various pieces and combine them. Not sure how yo apply glue though.

That symbol looks more like a brush. The most popular glue for modellers in Japan is applied with a brush. So in my opinion, the brush symbol means that you can "glue" stuff to that part, or more specifically on the surface where the symbol is.
Humor me: Hylians are to Sheikah as Zonai are too [blank]? 🧐 I think that might be what we’re looking at. The Sheikah were advanced and were close to the Hylians. So, what if the Zonai had their own tribe of similar warriors/scientists and that’s what the new sigils are for?
@8:03 I thought the same thing that it is inside some sort of sleeve and the same staff. that expands at the handles.
Thank you both for the great video! About the Bell-icon, which everyone seems call it: I was thinking the bell looks more like a brush maybe? A brush-icon would also fit the customization aspect.
The staff theory is something I’ve been really interested in… what if normally it looks like a paintbrush or some tool that shoots the goop? It could be summoned by that rune symbol.
7:00 That's actually exactly how I imagined when Zeltik mentioned it. I think that sounds pretty logical.

theres an image with a tear shaped exactly like the ones in the mural. and since there are 7 of them i feel that somewhat confirms it. something it does confirm is that many people thought the underground would just be a few spots, we see an insane variety of stuff for it. also the reason there isnt much “spoilery” stuff is that remember this is the art book that comes WITH the game as it releases. why they would put spoilers for the story? they would have to consider if someone flips thru it before playing
You can see a little bit of green goop attaching the weapon handle to the bottom of the dragon head cannon thing.
my guess the robot thing will be like the great fairy or the horse spirit, it will upgrade your crafting ability like the great fairy does for for your equipment
I think you've cracked it.I think that stick will function something like the Dominion Rod from TP. It will allow us to create / craft / combine things. What an interesting idea for a Zelda mechanic. I still contend that the symbol on the (I'll call them) crafting parts is simply a stylized power symbol. You know, a circle with a line through it. Zelda isn't above repurposes something from our world so that players will understand a mechanic at a glance. It's a power symbol and indicates that a part can be powered and used in a contraption.
Finally someone talks about the kid in the stable
i think a slate function, probably cryosis or the bombs, will be replaced with the ability to attach things with the green goop, like how spider man webs things. it makes sense to me that a core feature shown in a trailer would be more accessible to players, and since lifting parts up is already a slate/arm function, why wouldn’t the ability to attach parts too? also i think they’ll either remove the bombs or patch the windbomb glitch to engage players with the new mechanics, and prevent them from skipping half the game

The vehicle customization aspect of the crafting system reminds me of Banjo Kazooie Nutz ‘n Boltz. I know that sounds weird to Zelda fans who’ve never played that game, but I feel like it’s at least worth mentioning. And to those who think this is some glorified dlc….just remember that it actually WAS supposed to be a dlc for the original game. The 3rd one to be exact. I think it's most likely that it's scope and size expanded so much that it had to be reworked into a sequel instead. Just a little FYI.
Major spoilers dropped on the subreddit so be careful everyone
Did y'all have insider knowledge??? Got it almost spot on! Awesome job guys!!
Could the symbol be a paintbrush surrounded with a circle of the gel? As if its splayed out and applying the gel, to indicate crafting.
I'm pretty sure the "bell" is a broom tbh. I can kind of see how people would get a bell from it, but the segmented bottom doesn't look like one to me and I think a broom makes more sense for an icon when it comes to customizing than a bell does. Edit: My friend mentioned a paintbrush. That actually makes the most sense to me, more than a bell or a broom. Painting, creativity, customization. All go hand-in-hand.

An issue with botw's combat system is that after a certain point, you would just ignore most of the weapons that are dropped by mobs. That's a pretty normal thing in any game that has "loot" but I have a suspicion that if there is a weapon crafting system, it would certainly be used as a solution to this problem. Maybe not, but using many low-tier items to make one high-tier item is a tried-and-true method of improving the progression in a game.
I am so ready also a new nbc video
One thing that I had a thought, if they are still going to keep the durability system of BotW in TotK why not make weapon breaking an incentive that way people didn’t horde their weapons and such. So I was thinking, since it seems the horns of enemies seem to be materials for weapons and maybe shields, what if to craft brand new weapons and repair said crafted weapons required a special material like “weapon shards” which is obtain when a found weapon is destroyed either in combat or salvaged in the weapons menu. This could incentivize people to use procured weapons to allow them to craft an even stronger weapon. And the amount of weapon shards given to you is based on the tier of weapon that broke. For example: rusty weapons only drop one weapon shard, while a royal guard’s weapon drops 10 shards.
maybe specific monster horns can be used to repair weapons? like using a new bokoblin horn to replenish a spear’s durability, maybe at the cost of it losing attack points if the parts are inferior

Konrad in case you haven't become aware of it (but i believe you already have) someone has leaked pages from the official Tears of the Kingdom artbook revealing many characters and gameplay mechanics from the game. Should you not want to be spoiled i advice you ignore any news online pertaining to the leaks until release date.
feels like the 'stick' that we see in the vehicles and weapons is going to be the sheikah slate of TotK - maybe it's even an extended version of the vial we've seen on Link's hip that contains the vials of 'tears'?
Haven't been into Zelda since BOTW. And now i can't stop watching these theory video's
In addition to the crafting, I think they could also have been inspired by the upgrade system of the blacksmiths in Age of Calamity. Imagine finding weapons that you can use or just store away to fuse together to upgrade the weapons. If the durability system is still in place, then these upgrades may be used to increase durability and other things, kind of like what was seen in Age of Calamity. Also, imagine fusing a normal weapon with an elemental wand or something to make completely new weapons, and this doesn't just extend to weapons, but armor too. In BOTW, you could buy multiple copies of the same outfit, for no real reason other than to have various color schemed outfits, and you still have to upgrade them. Imagine being able to fuse all sorts of materials to give your armor/weapons various elemental properties. You get to look good and be functional, without eating a meal. But this is all speculation, for all we know, the crafting and stuff may just be limited to certain items. Great video, and very excited and hyped.
Consider captions sometimes, please? You do a pretty good job at speaking clearly most of the time (with the occasional problem stemming from funny words from games usually) but some of your guests are really hard to understand. And of course in general it helps those who are deaf and hard of hearing. I know it takes additional time and effort but please consider it.
Words don't describe how excited I am for the new flying machine in TotK
I always thought that in botw, having a weapon break should give you crafting materials to make new weapons. That way, it's not SUCH a bummer to break a weapon, and it might encourage you to use weapons that you may otherwise horde or discard. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case in totk (especially if your crafted weapons can still break!)
oooh! It's not a bell or a tassel (or a broom)... it's a BRUSH... a paintbrush to apply the glue :O
I don’t see how Zeltik will know the new crafting system but color me curious I suppose
I'm honestly shocked how little Triple A open world games pull from Minecraft. Every game only ever tries to pull its crafting system and fails at it. I think a good direction for Zelda going forward would be to take inspiration from that game. I can guaruntee something similar to minecraft's enchanting system would solve most people's problems with weapons. Imagine how cool building something similar to the complexity of redstone would be in Zelda? Especially these vehicles. There's so much potentjal
Think you’re right about the steering wheel, to add to it, it also seems to function like a key, to start the engine. So when that part is slid into the “sleeve” (damnit there’s no way to make that sound right 😂) The car starts and becomes drivable, once you pull it from the sleeve/ignition, the engine (or that green glowing box on the back) turns off.
The handle and the steering column are not the same thing. They are the same colour because they are both "Zonai." One is very thin and one is very thick.
I think almost everything we have been shown of TotK so far is really early in the game. Within the 1st 2hrs of play. With the only exception being the vehicles and parts on the mountain. I feel everything else is very, very early game.
a bit of an out there theory, but what if the “staff” is the master sword? We saw that in breath of the wild title that the master sword was rusted, and that’s how it worked in the game, you had a limited durability and it needed to be replenished after use. on the title, the master sword is turning into a green technological pattern, what if the sword is the basis of how these crafting things worked?
Could you imagine flying around hyrule, seeing a monster with a cool weapon part on their head and going I NEED THAT. And killing them in record time to build a new weapon
The big robots(that generic cube one, especially) seem pretty clearly to be things you fight to claim their parts to build with, the same as with the smaller weapon-horned enemies Weapon crafting will also have really interesting knock-on effects to the existing weapon "economy", possibly relieving player angst toward the durability system by giving them something more concrete to hold onto permanently(the rod, or the power that enables this system) that just varies in use based on the player's exploration and creativity
@Buglin_Burger7878
Жыл бұрын
Even that wouldn't fix durability. Rewards for combat are worthless often a gem or generic item of no value. Fighting increases the world level which in turn since you can access every weapon makes your weapons relatively weaker/fragile and enemies more threatening. Unless Link can get attack buffs for fighting like doing +1 damage to eventually +10 it ultimately results in nothing more then a loss since you have every tool in the world accessible.
fully customizable vehicles ... also known as Nuts and bolts (from Banjo Kazooie Nuts and bolts which took that vehicle system and made the completionist exploration of earlier banjo kazooie games into a racing game...) Let's just say that that game was NOT recieved well... so this is not a positive sign to MANY gamers. ALSO those vehicles will make riding and exploring on ground level obsolete - which iirc was one of the main gameplay loops in botw.... hopefully this means that they're taking a more linear approach to the "game/storystructure" which would justify dropping the "openness"/passive design of botw. lets take a gameplay exploration loop in botw. 1. see a point of interest like a mountain, a shrine, whatever. 2. start making your way over that direction - on ground level. 3. find chests, korok seeds, enemy encampments etc. on the way. 4. get to your original destination or find a new point of interest to head towards. with flying vehicles or just being able to outrun enemies then you skip points 2 and 3... I am replaying botw but I now know some handy tricks like the floating bomb hold trick - which has me faster reaching my intended goals but I don't really have any incentive to go to the parts in between anymore. and those in betweens were why my first botw playthrough was so magical. if my first Totk won't have it, why keep the open world aspect at all? imo.
8:15 "no no, you've got a point"
Ah! Intresting!
I fricking LOVE building contraptions in games thanks I can do that on the Switch soon too (hope you will be able to build more mechanical stuff than just wheels or props on a slab) and I started to like Zelda games (BotW best one 'till now) a few years ago so this game will be perfect
What if that golem-thing is an enemy made of vehicle parts that you get after defeating them? Also, I'd love if the Hot-Air Balloon worked like a raft, in that it drifts in the wind and can be pushed by a korok leaf
Maybe kass's teacher left behind a song of an old legend that leads the hero to ganondorf since it has lead to shrines and in one case, the chest of rupees a link left for link
hey the icon we have been thinking its a broom or a bell or a curtan tassle or whatever else what if its a brush? like a paint brush? would make sense considering brushes are used for glue a lot in something like kitbashing which what else is link doing with that car besides kitbashing wood planks and wheels together?
To add onto vehicle crafting, I heard that on one of Nintendo’s official websites or something like that, they stated the game will have Nintendo Switch Online functionality. What if we as the player can share our blueprints for vehicles or weapons to other people? I’m unsure if all that is true or not but I have seen a video covering it. I’d have to find it again.
Have you ever notice that the main music theme for Tears of the Kingdom is present in Breath of the Wild? If you talk to Kass to activate the Serpent's Jaws side quest you can hear it. And the fact that this shrine is related with the Zonai is a strong evidence that the Zonai will be present in Tears of the Kingdom. What do you think?
Hopefully this games lives up to the hype, can’t wait.
I wonder if that staff is the new Dominion Rod.
"We're [possibly] looking at fully customizable vehicles..."
OK BIG QUESTION. Is there any significance to the similarities between the rings around the spiral statue structures and the ring around the brush/bell rune? (The green spirals come out of structures that have a similar half circle thing around it)
I always thought the flamethrower was an attachment to his arm. I didn't realize he was holding it like a shield
I’d love to see Monster Hunter style crafting when acquiring materials to make elixirs and dishes.
Zonai tribe might be crafters or have there own technology like the sheikah or the twilight people
It seems like the enemies will be generated in a more... combinatory kind of way? They don't just have variety in weapons and tiers but also their horn as a secondary weapon and probably many other different attributes.

this level of investigation its so high that this might be considered spoilers. wow

I'm not saying its impossible but its such a huge leap to say this confirms fully customizable vehicles, when its just as likely you take 6 planks, 4 whrels, a steering devicr and 2 eggs and bring it to a device that takes a preset list of ingredients and gives you a vehicle, that it glues together out of those parts. Exactly how it works to make shiekah weapons etc with guardian parts in botw Is there any actual evidence that you control the configuration, not just that theyre made of scavanged parts?
