Het Nederlandse televisieprogramma "Countdown" was van 1976 t/m 1993 “Europe’s Number 1 Rock Show” en werd uitgezonden bij Veronica. Later werd het programma ook uitgezonden in het buitenland en was het op z'n hoogtepunt in meer dan 20 landen op televisie te zien.
Gedurende deze 17 jaar muziekgeschiedenis zijn er opnames gemaakt met talloze internationale sterren, zoals Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, U2, The Police, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Kravitz, Depeche Mode, New Order, Whitney Houston, Duran Duran, R.E.M., Frankie Goes To Hollywood, The Cure, Run DMC, Cyndi Lauper, Iron Maiden, New Kids On The Block, LL Cool J.

Het Countdown archief is vrijwel helemaal compleet en sinds 2017 eigendom van het Amerikaanse Reelin’ In The Years Productions (David Peck - reelinintheyears.com/) en Double 2 Hilversum (Jan Douwe Kroeske - www.double2bv.nl). France winter1989 me serving a year in the army , 5.am after a cold shower and clean shaven, i'm walking with a concealed walkman to take my guard shift in front of the Palais de Versailles, and the bass intro of this gem . Tears from cold wind and fear for my future ... 😢 But here i am at 55 alive and kicking ! ⚡️

Over the years Tears for Fears have produced so many incredible songs, but this one is on another level. The combination of Roland Orzabal and Oleta Adams is electrifying, Their voices go hand in glove. The music to this song is brilliant, and compliments them every step of the way. Vivi essa época, tive a honra de assistir o show do TFF no RJ. Hoje, aos 54 anos, depois de assistir dezenas/centenas de shows ao vivo, digo que esse foi o melhor de todos. Noite inesquecível. O mais bacana é ver minha filha curtindo muito o TFF, uma das minhas bandas favoritas.

Momento de tentativa de estabilidade socioeconômica e liberdade musical. Deu no que deu. Hoje em dia estamos retrocedendo e não há mais referências, ao contrário, retomamos um mundo instável por guerras e mazelas. Disfrutemos o que ficou de bom daquela época!
Roland and Curt happened to catch Oleta singing and playing in a bar in Kansas City, and were so impressed, they invited her to sing on their album, Sowing the Seeds of Love. Great find! Oleta's first album, Circle of One was released the next year. Another great video with Oleta is Bad Man's Song from the Knebworth concert.

Sou de 1974, nasci e cresci ouvindo essas músicas por causa dos meus pais. infelizmente hoje eles estão no céu, mas eu continuo escutando pois felizmente eles educaram muito bem os meus ouvidos e essas músicas que vão ficar para sempre na minha memória. Essa música é linda demais. Pena que essas pedras preciosas musicais pararam de ser fabricadas nesse mundo. Eu gostaria de poder explicar a felicidade que essas músicas me trazem. Me leva de volta àquela época da minha infância em que tudo era fácil; quando tudo era simples; quando tudo estava bem. Com certeza tivemos a sorte de crescer nos anos 80. Honestamente, nunca houve outra música como esta que é simples, mas complexa: comovente, caprichosa, atração emocional que absolutamente o suga para as profundezas. Pura magia como eram os anos 80. Brincadeiras à parte, o que eu não daria para voltar por apenas um verão. Ah......completamente subestimado. Sinto falta da minha juventude: sem celulares, sem internet, sem reality shows. Apenas amigos e amigas cara a cara passando o tempo um com o outro. Acordar e empinar pipas. Brincar no campinho de barro Brincar mãe da mula ,esconde esconde, beijo abraço e aperto de mão, trocar ideias na rua,ir pra escola sem celular, carrinho rolemã no morro a baixo, fazer toquinhas no mato ,descer de bicicleta só com os aros,dar mortal na lagoa, pescar nas lagoas ,catar reciclagem, ir pro salão de dança, catar frutas no quintal dos vizinhos abastados. Jogar pião é ganhar o pião do outro.,brigar de porrada pra valer, hoje eu olho pra cara do cara das antigas e sei a capacidade dele de enfrentar uma briga. Enfim a varis formas de entretenimento antigamente que os jovens nunca vão saber, a maioria fica vendo a vida do outro pelo celular. Porisso que andam atacando escolas.

Ouvir as mesmas músicas todos os dias há quase 40 anos e ainda ter as mesmas sensações das primeiras vezes é para poucos, não fizeram mais nada melhor que todas daquela época, fica quase impossível pra um jovem de hoje em dia entender o que foi aquilo tudo, já chegaram em um mundo destruído, é por isso que hoje esses jovens são acéfalos, verdadeiro zumbis em uma sociedade totalmente deteriorada, mas a culpa foi nossa meu caro, porque deixamos a coisa correr frouxa.

Oleta Adams is, and forever will be, one of the best female vocalists around (listeh to her song "Get Here"). I am very happy that TfF asked her to collaborate on this song, i don't think anyone at that point in time could do it except her, and her emoting brings out so much pathos that the lyrics could only hint at. well done, and now, a timeless classic!
