Tearing Apart an Abused Engine // YZ250 Bottom End Disassembly // YZ Enduro Build - Part 3

Спорт

Today we're getting to the good stuff! We're completely tearing down our yz250 engine and inspecting just how bad of shape it really is in. If we're using this thing for enduro and trail riding, it needs to be ultra reliable, so any small issue won't be overlooked!

7:51 Clutch can also be loosened with an impact with the top end on or the chain attached while on the bike. OR using the gear jam tool you have, placing all the clutch fibers and steels back into the clutch and then hitting with the impact. You would need the tool for torquing when reinstalling

Great video sir. Internals look a whole lot better than I was expecting when looking at the externals. Your home made insulated garage door backdrop has worked out like a dream.

Now that's cool! Subbed to watch MTB videos but I've learnt so much more! Always been curious about MX, never tried it more than just borrowing a bike for a 10 minute ride. This looks like a fun project.

I don't know anything about these bikes, but still enjoyable to watch you work. The wood on the garage door makes a great backdrop!

LA sleeve in California! They can set you and you're cylinder up! At a good price.

Are you using a trans set from an old woods bike like a wr250? If so youll love it. My 1992 wr250 has awesome ratios.

J- for the broken clutch cover bolt check out AvE's video on Alum from a few years back. Its used to chemically dissolve the steel fastener and leave the Aluminum untouched. I've used it on an aluminum head where a valve cover bolt broke off and it worked well.

Cylinder plating- I've sent several to Millennium Technologies Wisconsin. They do a great job and have a fantastic reputation. Also, when it comes time to put the motor together, Factory Wrench makes a jig to hold the tranny and shift drum together for easy installation. WORTH EVERY FRIGGING PENNY!!!!!!!

Eric Gore Racing, Millennium Tech, or US Chrome for the cylinder. All Wisconsin based companies and they are the go-to engine guys for cylinders and 2 stroke stuff.

This is awesome! I’ve been watching your channel for a while and never knew you were into motocross! I love the yz’s, good way to go for a wider ratio is you can take 3rd 4th and 5th gear from a yz 250x and put them in your 250!

Don’t worry about plating, pick up a plus one size piston kit and send it to Matto Cycle/Performance Machine Works in PA. Talk to Budd, his prices and turnaround time is unmatched. He could probably help with woods setup info as well.

If you find yourself waiting for parts or waiting on machine shop services, you may want to try your hand in doing some diy cerakote on some engine parts. They have air cure options that people say work well. I think it would make for good content and who doesn't like a little bling.

millennium technologies does a great job with plating cylinder although there are typically local shops in each state capable of replating the nikasil and returning it to factory bore
