Of all the polishers I have, I use this polisher, the 3in Rupes, and the Ibird nano the most. I plan on adding the 6” 21mm throw.I use two other 6in, but they vibrate and with just minor bumps or drops have bent something and are worthless now. My 3 in Rupes ( I have 2 now) both can take a mountain of abuse and have never failed me. I’m very happy with the 5” Mark III so far. I still like 3D1, and Sonax polishes as “goto” but have gravitated more and more to Rupes pads, and still use Urofiber 50/50 when i can. Lake country cutting pads.

Rupes for large corder polishers(own 15mk3, 21mk3 and the rotary), flex for small polishers(own xfe 7-12 and pxe80) and Millwaukee for cordless polishers(own 15 and 21). As for the washer mod, i instead sand the shroud so that it wont touch the bp. Its the perfect solution and gives you much better rotation.

Myself flex! Never any issues!!

The best polish machine. The price, quality and smoothness justify the price.

I was able to pick up a cordless Milwaukee DA like new at a discount from offer up and I’m in love with it I had a maxshine m8s before hand man what an upgrade!

A few years back I got my first Rupes 21mm 3rd gen polisher. It was pricey but it paid for itself the first car, I now have a backup 2nd gen (used $160) also 21mm, they are worth their weight in gold.

I love these technical videos Brian! Always interested to see what’s inside with the help of someone who knows what they’re doing

You can either buy quality or wonder what you're missing. Rupes is the standard.

Great review! And after your thorough teardown/autopsy, this looks like one of maybe a handful of polishers that's Apex-ready to use right out of the box. Again, great review and glad to see that Rupes quality continues to improve and hasn't slid backwards or outsourced to China like some have to cut cost. Thank you. Edit: So disappointed FLEX Polishers and their other cordless tools went over to be made in China (over a year ago) along with their great long-life batteries too. They just won't have the same quality as when made in Germany. Now we're still paying quality German prices for Chinees made tools.

Bought a cordless Milwaukee I've only used it a couple times but works really good. Cordless is so much nicer!

Not sure why people consider the price of this polisher as a con, it's just $460 for a tool the makes most of the work of any paint correction job and it works for years.

I use a rotary nothing beats it for cutting

Unless you have fuck it money to blow or run a business then itd prob be worth it but for hobbyist using it a few times a year if that, way too expensive for a tool you wont use that much.

Question. Bought a Shinemate Ex620 polisher. Love it so far but notcing only after a couple uses, it heats up and melted a couple pads and the stock backing plate is looking pretty rough for the only handful times of usage. What could be the cause? Is it the factory grease thats in the machine?

I have the same polisher yes change out the grease asap the polisher will run quieter and smoother. I run my polisher at speed 4 never zero heat problems.

Nothing wrong with the Rupes units, highly copied by the competition. Yes, they are a SYSTEM to ensure consistent performance to the end user. A bit pricey for a DIY’er but when you are charging for the service it becomes a money maker.
