Erik rightfully exposing Ben's celebrations lmao
I love how Erik is able to admit his own team's faults and admit when the other team does something well. Despite automatically having a bias, he barely shows it and commentates and analyses the plays as if he were an outside person. Its not just him pointing out the goods of his team and the bads of the other. Its even, which makes it a great watch (especially for someone like me who loves the sport but doesn't know much) :)
11:33 the japanese libero actually pancaked the ball after the dig but the play was dead due to 4 touches. Amazing reaction from the lib, jesus

When someone misses a serve: Collective cringe. Serving looks so stressful I don't know how anyone does it...
@mikey88
3 жыл бұрын
What's more stressful is when you are at the point in a game where it's your serve and if you miss, your team loses and if you go for an easy ball they get the advantage to attack aggressively.. It's soooo stressful, it takes fukin courage to be aggressive in that serve
@rewrose2838

@@mikey88 😂 Man, I can't imagine going aggressive there, if you fault it all comes down on you.
I keep recalling Erik's advice against Japan "close the seam, close the seam, CLOSE THE SEAM!"
I can't imagine travelling THAT LONG and still playing at a pro level hahaha i couldn't do it with our 8hr travel. You guys are just amazing.
watching Erik talk about his teammates is like watching a friend group explain an inside joke
Thank you Erik, it was funny how Ben celebrate 😂
First of all, love to see a reaction both Team USA AND Team Japan, two of the teams I’m the most familiar with. Also, love the thumbnail, haha. The laser eyes are a KZread thumbnail staple. Nice to see Japan’s captain, Yanagida, playing in this set. Also interesting to see the ever-popular Nishida at an early point in his career. His jersey number here is 32, while I’ve always known it as 11. He definitely feels like more of a work-in-progress with his hitting and serving here (on a national level; I’m sure he could’ve destroyed me when he was like 13). His serves in his recent V-League match on the team JTEKT Stings were a huge weapon.
I just want to say that I've watched so many of your videos that I can remember perfectly your intro but I can't remember anything for my college exams. Anyway, yay volleyball!!!

Patch is a freak of nature being so but but still jumps so high that's what I call athleticism
USA is so much taller than Japan.
6 feet from the sideline and sets it back, the distance of the set was crazy 🤩

maybe try to throw the ball up with side spin to create more side spin to curve?

It’s about how you hit the ball, you have to cut it the same way you cut a spike.
I’m kinda a nishida fan and then I heard that nishida was in the Japanese team i was just kinda surprised:)
React to Morgan hentz the Stanford women’s old libero she’s amazing 😭
You should react to more of your professional games in Russia!! They are so interesting to watch!
That miscommunication from JP in the beginning was probably because Nishida was still very young at the time(I think he was 18) and not really used to playing with the team yet. Not sure tho. Also your pronunciation of Goiânia was on point!!
@zareefhossain6871
3 жыл бұрын
He was 18 at that time.
Hi Shoji, I used to play volleyball up to the middle 90’s and it was quite hard to defend some attacks because I couldn’t see the ball due to their high speed. Now that the ball is a little lighter than it was at my time, does that still happens? Thanks!!
@ErikShojivolleyball
3 жыл бұрын
what do you mean by lighter?
@Kurohitsuji365
3 жыл бұрын
What I meant by that is that I think the white ball from my days were a bit heavier. Maybe it is just the feeling I had by touching the “new ball” not so long ago. I’m from the time when some rules were different and if you got a long vacation, hitting a ball could even hurt your hand a little. Man, kudos to you!! I saw that you really read the comments from nobodys like me. Thanks again!!
What's your best tip on digging hard driven serves? I've honestly not been exposed that much to them so when I go to college Ik I'll have a bit of trouble with it

get a lot of reps if you can. arms out and try to get your body in front if possible. surface area is key!
