TEAM TALK: 🚨 EVINRUDE BOMBSHELL!!! 🚨 (LYING TO CUSTOMERS???)
Another day, another video about how BRP is trashing the Evinrude name! Multiple insider sources at Evinrude tell us that BRP is purposely misleading customers when it comes to back ordered parts. 3 months out on back order, then they supersede that part number with a new number and say that part is 3 months out. They cycle will continue until BRP no longer has any legal obligations to Evinrude warranty holders and parts manufacturing. It ain't right and someone needs to call these guys out for it....WE WILL! Comment below if you've gotten the run around or tell us if you've actually gotten any parts from BRP Evinrude.

I think the brand is forever dead. Even if revived, too many dealers, customers, enthusiasts burned. Real bad experiences that run real deep. A lot of people lost a lot of money and endured a lot of headaches on so many levels.

I’m so sick of incompetence running great companies into the ground. I’ve seen it I’ve worked for a company that our plant manager was more interested in chasing his secretary around the office then managing our company. What was once the shining example in a 300 million dollar a year companies shop is gone because of him.

I pity the poor people with newer motors because no parts are available.

Andy, long time subscriber and first time commenter. Your videos and information you share with this group are always appreciated. You personally saved me a huge amount of grief these last few years as I was seriously considering upgrading my outboard to an ETEC....and as you stated so eloquently.... :)..... they "were" an awesome motor and company in the past but their demise as of now is staggering. I'm up in Canada which makes accessing parts and service even more difficult. By subscribing to this channel, you convinced me that a shiny new Suzuki was the way to go and I have never been happier with their product, service and reliability. I can't even imagine the grief and stress I would be experiencing if I had gone with the Evinrude. A big thank you from this Canadian boy for keeping my stress levels in check and being able to actually be on the water where all boats belong!! Take care.

  • @scottmonthony726

That was my understanding of the legal aspect of it. When GM decided to stop producing Oldsmobile, the federal government stepped in and said that parts must be available for 10 years following the last production. Is the fact that BRP is Canadian having influence on this? Funny, a lot of GM products were produced in Canada. 🤔. It's sad really. I've owned Johnson Evinrude since the seventies. Still running 80's two strokes. Probably going to go Japanese in the future. They actually care about putting a quality product out. 😢

There's 4 part numbers for V4 & V6 EMM for E Tecs, 586707, 586982, 587130, 587155 These numbers haven't changed or been Superseded. As the New Zealand Distributor our last receipt of these part numbers was a stock order in November 2023, About the time this video was uploaded. There's 2 reasons why a dealer tells his customers parts aren't available. Wants to sell a repower. Parts account is on stop. Mostly its the repower. I see this happening in our market. If you are having trouble getting parts for Evinrude you should try Barnicle Bills or we can send them back from New Zealand. Your welcome.

And my 225HO G2 has mainly been good, some minor issues that lead to other slight running issues (extended idling lead to fouled plug and burnt out coil). Carbon build up due to that also blocked EMM exhaust back pressure fitting). Cleared and has been running great. 650plus hours on that 2014 year engine ABA. Will see how it goes.

Hello Andy, I enjoy watching your Team Talk KZreads and was quite interested in your "Evinrude Bombshell!!!" video that talked about the problem many viewers apparently are having getting replacement parts for their Evinrude E-TEC motors. I have a 2018 90hp E-TEC that runs great. There is an Evinrude / Suzuki dealer in Detroit that always seems to have parts and service for both motors. Maybe this place gets the parts that they need because of their longevity as a selling and servicing Evinrude dealer? Their website says that they have been in business at the same location for over 100 years! Lockeman's Hardware & Boats in Detroit is another place your viewers might be able to contact for hard to get E-TEC parts and service. Thanks again for keeping boaters informed about all the latest issues!!

Having worked with several auto manufacturers over a 30 year span, I know that a part number change usually indicates that the manufacturer has identified a problem with the current design of a part and it has been redesigned or a component has been changed to a different manufacturer to mediate the problem. The problem with computers is that the chips needed to fix the problem are made of that rare precious substance known as UNOBTANIUM. When the chips are released, they are in such short supply that all or most of them go to the assembly line. If they went to spare parts, the assembly lines would shut down tanking the business. Unfortunately, the owners of previously purchased defective products are faced with long wait times. They are partially screwed. The reason I say partially is that when the supply chain restores, they can get their part. If the company folds, they go from partially to totally screwed.

My mechanic races Evinrude motors. He builds flywheel replacements that are cheaper and better warranty than the BRP OEM flywheels. Race proven. BRP was buying from him during COVID and was shipping all over the world. It’s going to take people like this to keep it going for a little while, but at the end of the day even he won’t get parts.

The company I’m with has been a J/E dealer/service center for 46 years. The reputation in our area we have for these motors is incredible. We always had parts on hand and we pride ourselves on proper quality, efficient work. It’s a kick to our guts knowing we can’t serve our customers like we did. Luckily we’re Yamaha also so we were able to bounce back a bit. But to see one of our old signs that says “First in Outboards”… it means nothing now. I feel the Cape Coral dealer meeting was a giant F-U to us looking back on everything. They knew, they had/have a plan and I’m thinking by 2025 it’s totally done.

I LOVED Evinrude, marine tech most of my life. For any one out there that wants to hear this, just this week I traded my Etec. Talking with several Evinrude dealers, we all believe when BRP is done with the warranty on existing motors, they will flush EVERYTHING down the toilet!!!! So glad (as much as it broke my heart), I put a Suzuki 4-stroke on my boat, even after I always said I’d never buy a 4-stroke, because it was worth money now, and prices are dropping!!

Hard to keep the computer board cooled if it ran in salt water or muddy water . There is a place in the water jackets that gets filled with sediment and won’t flow water to the computer.. I just bought one a few months ago then shipped both computers to GA to have a data transfer. The computer has to be programmed to the motor or it will not run.. they did buy my old one that did off set the shipping. And the price of the data transfer so all together about 75$.. the computer itself was a few hundred dollars

We bought a switch because it was $21k during Covid but I knew BRP was trash and figured if it lasts 4 years it was worth it. It’s a sad faded pile and spent 6 months in the shop waiting on parts so far.

Thanks for the video, I’m one of the big Evinrude fans lol! I will try and send this video to BRP, if this is the case it’s very unfortunate. We as Evinrude customers definitely don’t deserve this. I know in Canada Evinrude has to supply parts for at least 25 years that’s by law. So I don’t feel this is entirely true. I’m a Autobody painter and parts have been a nightmare since Covid they start getting good then get bad again so this could be partially the case. I like Andy but it blows my mind how far apart we are when it comes to how one person can like something so much (G2) and one person absolutely hates it. It’s very strange

Just found your channel and thank you the great info and insight. I watched your video, about 3 years ago, about Yamaha vs Mercury. I was wonder if your thoughts are the same about the brands. As, I have a 2016 Boston Whaler 210 Montauk with a 2016 Evinrude E-TEC 200HP HO. I am in Southwest Florida and just can't get any service in my area on the E-TEC. My E-TEC needs about a $4k of work, including a new fuel pump/reservoir. So, I've been thinking about repowering. Thoughts on the Yamaha and Suzuki inline 4 cylinder 200HP compared to the Mercury FourStroke V6 200HP outboard?

I was never a huge evenrude fan but owned one because I couldn't pass up a used stratos 201xl that I bought very cheap with on 200 hours on an evenrude. I sold it approx 2 years ago just after they 1st announced and I knew the writing was on the wall. Sold it while I still knew I could and get some return on it. Sold it for what I but it for, so used it for years for the cost of maintenance and a few upgrades. New seats, trailer fenders, trailer jack, winch, and a garmin 7 inch with GPS. Plus a cheaper regular unit up front. Also some other inexpensive add ons or fixes . So I feel Ii was a smart purchase and sale. Ofcourse now in hock with a way newer boat but that's life of a bass fisherman. Lol

Trying to sell people on 2 stroke engines wasn’t going to fly, I remember seeing several infomercials trying to sell the idea. You’re up against the big giants, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Tohatsu. Every Merc 30 horsepower and under are made by Tohatsu. Merc is the only American brand now and will always have to be on top of their game going up against the big 4 in Japan. I grew up with Johnson / Evinrude, and was very much saddened to see them die.

I've had multiple older Evinrudes and Johnsons and currently own an 86 110 that I bought new in 86 and had very few issues since new, coil, starter, oil injection and that's it. Could probably use reeds. Had friends that had XP's and Intruders and all great motors but also had friends that had E techs and absolutely junk! Power heads computers, lower units etc all swayed me into not getting one. Very disappointing! Still get comments in my bass club on how well the 110 pushes my old Sylvan Eliminator, still will hit 45 mph with 2 guys and full load. Last good motor in my opinion was the Intruder!

I was unlucky in that they announced the "going out of business" six weeks after I gladly purchased a motor with the Evinrude name on it. At that time I was having some issues with it and my dealer easily got parts from them. Fast forward three years and in spite of the dealer trying everything we couldn't get it fixed. As time progressed the dealer started having issues getting them on the phone as I continued to have issues. The mechanic found a used part at another dealer and finally we had it fixed. The same day I was convinced we had finally fixed it I gave it to a guy that had blown his engine and needed one. I ordered a new Yamaha and can't be happier.
