You can tell that there is at least a competent coach in the building again. Johnathan Smith might be going into a war with rocks and spears at this point but they will at least have a plan. Bowl eligibility would be a massive step in the right direction for MSU in their first year under Smith.

The potential for the offense is there with Chiles, Marsh, the RB's, and Velling. A lot will depend on the OL. As for defense we can only hope the secondary improves with the new staff. Not sure how much to take away from the defense after watching the spring game though. A cold, windy day but fun to see them out there learning a new system on both sides.

As a Michigan fan and football connoisseur, MSU looks much better just from this spring game alone. It’ll take time, but this team will be fine.

As a Michigan fan, that really hopes MSU becomes competitive again someday, I was expecting more than what I saw today from MSU. They look small and are not physical at all on the line of scrimmage. Chiles is a better looking QB than they've had in awhile. But he doesn't have much help. I don't expect this MSU team to win much this year, but if their current recruiting momentum is any indication of their future, they'll be legit again by 2026.
