DrDope164 Pedals are dope, but it’s a very slippery slope to eating up your bank account. I think I must have been taking for granted my prior musical experience from before I really picked up a guitar. Once he played the riff, even as a beginner guitarist or even as a straight up beginner musician, I wouldn't need him to be spelling out every single fingering and string to hit. It would come easy enough with a push in the right direction. So I was watching this like "WTF its not that hard even as a beginner!", but like I said its good to remember that I was never a "true" beginner on guitar, and people have different experiences than myself especially a non-musician. Music is hard, man. And it makes me appreciate how far I've come even if I still suck, and makes me appreciate how wide of a spectrum music is on. And that everyone has a different natural talent for it but still everyone can play if they try :)

G especially is a hard one to get at first, at least in my experience. Lots of notes being fingered at once and that stretch from the 1st to 6th string (especially in the shape where the ring finger is on the low e and the pinky on the high e) was always hard for me to nail on the first go. Good choice for a song to help get past all that

This what being a beginner is really like, it’s difficult, it’s frustrating and it’s no wonder that most people give up! But you have a good tutor who is patient, so you just have to stick with it and keep practicing.
This is goals 🙂
I teach guitar for a living. This riff can sometimes be a little tough for beginners because it is a little more rhythmically complex than other riffs. It picks up (doesn't start on the downbeat of 1) on the offbeat of 3 and is more syncopated than lets say smoke on the water, brain stew, peter gunn, etc. Also the first Nirvana song everyone learns is "Smells Like Teen Spirit" because you can teach a beginner just the root notes for the starting riff (and then build on the song later when they learn power chords) and also show them the easiest verse in music history with the same two notes repeated over and over.
Teaching your wife/girl how to play is one of the highest virtues for a guitarist... Well done 👍.
I smile when I hear that song
Well done Mrs Larson! 🤘👌
"I want you to find a chorus pedal in this display" me, pointing at the screen like it's a children's show: THERE'S A BRIGHT BLUE BOSS CE-2! IT'S RIGHT THERE!!!
