Teaching Heel Position - Border collie puppy Spam's first weekend at a seminar away from home.

Spam is 19 weeks old and we've mostly worked on her rear end awareness and coming to heel on both sides. She's also joined on a trip to an agility seminar where she worked on both skills and on relaxing by the agility ring.

I absolutely love the way you are working with your dogs. I have an 18 month old red heeler cross from a shelter, she is eager to do agility but gets distracted and excited so easily. I learn a lot from your videos about the basics and I feel confident that we will catch up with everything she missed in her first year of life. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I love seeing calm bordercollies and people who teach them to wait and be patient 😍 When I first came into agility world, I had this impression that borders are super crazy dogs who are on go-go-go mode all the time and only later realised that it's not true actually.

Thanks! I think it's important too. I've been blessed with a line of dogs (Epic and his offspring) that like to quietly watch (which doesn't mean that they're super relaxed, it's more of a herding thing I think). I've also had Epic's half-sister Squid who I've had to manage for her entire life as she can't be calm and quiet around an agility ring. She started screaming at 9 weeks...

@@FannyGott Is the "off-switch ability" among your criteria for possible litter parents that you'd want a puppy from?

@@MioMyDog Not really, but it's a plus. I breed sheepdogs, so I generally don't know how they act around agility rings...

I absolutely love your videos! I wish my dogs would be more interested in toys then the treats! If my dog thinks she's going to get a treat she can stare for it literally 15-20 minutes haha, so if I would give her treats while she is calm, she immediately goes to work-mode DELUXE. Please keep posting videos! Love every single one!
