Always stack a couple of wheel rims with tyres on under the car, when it's on axle stands. if it drops,it'll settle on the tyres

@@tuffteddy1446 I see so many people crawling under cars while they're just supported on a jack. What happens if the seals in the jack blow or the jack fails? the car drops!!!! Always wheels under for me!

Excellent video! Reminds me of working alongside my youngest son (the car guy) and later on, his older brother as he realized working on his own car was way cheaper than paying someone to do it. Nothing beats on the job learning, this young man did a superb job, and Dylan you were a great teacher.

The best finale of learning everything I could about my first car, a 1991 Ford Escort, was to buy a parts car, and strip it down to the bare shell! Ever since then, just about any part of working on a car has been super easy.

Excellent teaching video, Dylan! Congrats to Briar for his 1st engine removal! Mine was when I was 16 (I think) on the 67 Dodge Charger that I rebuilt with my dad. He'll remember that for sure.!

I've got underwear older than Dylan, but it is refreshing to see him be the wise old car guy to a high schooler.

I've gotta tell ya Dylan, I give you a ton of credit for what you are doing with your "apprentice", Bryar, (Don't know how he spells it). It brings back memories of when I was in high school and I had a mentor do the same with me. He taught me everything I know about cars. I learned a lot and it's helped me all throughout life. You're doing an amazing thing with him. Keep it up. It's like I'm watching a flashback of my days learning about cars. The guy that taught me owned a used car lot. I worked down there 11 hours a day, 6 days a week for $50 a week. I opened the place up in the morning and closed it down at night. I earned enough to buy my first car, 1972 Javelin SST for $500. I also earned enough to put $3000 into building it into a rod. I learned a lot fast. So will he. Seems like he's got a great attitude about it and is wanting to learn. But I just gotta ask, why didn't you just drop the springs so you could just drop the axle down? And lose that Fram on there and throw a Wix on it. So when doe he start HIS channel? I'd sub.

Hey Dylan, that front header panel and front bumper would make a really cool wall hanger for your shop. Especially if you wire it up to make the lights work.

Can take a computer power supply and put a paper clip between a black wire and the green wire, and use it for a good 18-20A 12v power source strong enough to run turn signals and headlights together. Just remember on the molex plugs, yellow is 12v+ and red is 5v+

Briar is already a great mechanic at 17 years old. See if he can do CoEDy with a community college to get the ball rolling for mechanic school. Keep doing it McCool style Briar.

That was a really great episode. Hopefully more channels will do some teaching episodes in the future. There are many kids that want to get involved but over think it and don’t necessarily have the people accessible to help them build confidence. Good work buddy!

Briar did a awesome job 1st time pulling engine and transmission out. I was afraid the clutch fan would get bent but it didn’t and came out like a breeze. Way to go Dylan.

Great series! You pull enough engines that you might want to grab a load leveler/tilter for your engine hoist. They make it a lot easier, especially when you're pulling the trans along with the engine.

Thanks for passing on your knowledge and love for car restoration to our younger generation.

Respect for Briar, he seems to be a great guy, loves vintage cars and has the best teacher you could wish for!

Back when I was in school I pulled out my first engine and it was a v6 from a old chevy s10 that the engine was long gone and we turned the truck into a BBQ truck with a BBQ pit in the engine bay where the engine used to sit.

Awesome job Briar! Myself, i always pull the fan off first, it gives you just a little bit more forward movement when pulling an engine. Great job mentoring Dylan!

Man you guys have it SO easy nowadays...my first motor pull ( I was 16 ) on my 66 mustang was ON THE STREET in front of my parent's house. Had to RENT a cherry picker, assemble it, then pull the motor, disassemble the picker and get it back to the rental yard before they closed to save a day's rental...I was making $1.75 an hour then, at a movie theatre. I did this on my days off....

Love this kid, he's got the desire to learn but most importantly he has ability to accept direction and or critisism! He's gonna do well! Great job guys!!!

great way to learn. my son works in a chevy garage. he's been a master tech about 10 years now. good money and honest living. we need young people willing to learn a trade like that.

I love that Briar is doing this. I wish I had paid more attention in auto shop. Being a mechanic is like having a super power that prints money. I have never done anything more than change a thermostat, etc, so I'm not one to give advice, but I think Briar should wear safety glasses when under the car to prevent rust dust, dirt, and drips from getting into his eyes. Also those awesome rubber shop gloves for more grip on tools, and less clean up on your hands. Congratulations, Briar !

That was pretty neat. My first pull was at pic-a-part or u-pull. Dodge 2.2L Turbo because my Shadow cracked a piston and warped the head. Took all damn day to do. Putting it in was a whole different ball of wax.👌🏻🤘🏻 pretty cool 😎

Hook some chains up from the tractor bucket to the frame or unibody holes, you'll be able to move the non-runners more quickly, safely, and with less damage. AW Direct sells adapters for the factory holes to save you even more time and make it easier to hook up on the car side.

Awesome job I remember pulling my first engine I was around 17,18 maybe pulled and swapped an engine on a 83 DATSUN pick up my dad was help me one day pulling the engine from a donor truck I bought and then left me alone until I had the engine out and the other one in I had the trunk running and called him out to see it was done I felt like I was one top of the world

The process is the same for pretty much any RWD car, so now he'll have an idea of what to look at before his next pull. I was 14 when an engine rebuilder taught me, and I pulled my 1st mill solo at 18. Good job!

Hey Dylan, I am long time fan and want to ty for all the great info. A while back , inspired by you I bought a 71 charger. The car had been vandelized and the ignition switch was toast. You mentioned a good place for used parts and they helped me out. For weeks I kept hearing they don't make that part anymore and i would have to buy a new column. I got lucky thanks to you. Now I need some window parts i can't find but i lost that info to that salvage yard . I think it was in Georgia. Ty for any help. Those little plastic nuts for the door glass is what I need. Love your videos.

Dylan, I pulled my 67 mustang’s engine late last winter, I rebuilt the 302 into a 347 stroker! I dropped it back in yesterday and today I put on the headers, drive shaft, put on the oil pressure senders, added the break in oil and primed it via an oil pump drive shaft tool, so I can relate to this process! Tomorrow more accessories go in!

Excellent video Dylan :) , Bryer :) my first Auto Mechanics shop classes in grade 9 had do fix up my shop teacher with plus 6 other students guys was shop man teacher daughter 1983 Chevrolet Malibu Classic 4 door also took out 4.4 litre V8 267 Cubic Cm 4 barrel with small air breather intake , plus Turbo 700SR 4speed Overdrive Automatic transmission, put fresh crate General Motors 350 V8 motor no Alternator, Starter , manifolds or intake , also brackets put on from 267 too 350 , put new EFI distributor in , daul exhaust from singal , Turbo 700SR 4speed Overdrive Automatic transmission was brand new to crate to plus got shift kit , took 2 months do ! Funny part shop teacher daughter work at General Motors in Oshawa Ontario plant as Supervisor boss that had got and her car was Pink body plus interior too was special ordered in 1983 she wanted Lol! But I got car in 2005 but sold before found up sale in local paper in Classified section too she only want $700.00 for but needs brakes to certified for get road plus my insurance! Also you teach Bryer lots Dylan and he be able work on his own vehicle someday too and you give hand help out too I bet and use your shop too! Also give Lol for my Electrical Shop classes in High school in 1992 was a 1984 Plymouth Reliant Station Wagon and for extra marks had rebuild starter plus Wire Harness on starter motor rewire it on 2 jack stands plus jack too also Alternator too shop teacher ask me do no others student's want do it ! Fun task in 5 days and 2 classes each do in ! Also working on did much better for teacher too didn't use a toggle switch to start car anymore and ruin vehicle Electrical!

Excellent work Briar. Seeing a young man learning some real-life skills is nice. I don't mind seeing the Cordoba being taken apart so another car may live. The damage was too extensive on that old lady. I love the Cordoba body style, but one must face reality.

Don't forget @PoleBarnGarage , he's like the wild cousin who does the projects that no one else wants to do, and then also shines 'em up with paint and body work. Kind of reminds me of Dylan's awesome full restoration videos (welding in new seat pans, and literally doing everything to restore the car).

Good job young man. Good for you for teaching him.

It's amazing how in the US when you fit a tow hitch or towbar as we call it in Australia. If the fuel tank can't drop out like it was designed to, in Australia if you used an American style tow hitch was here all companies would be up for huge fines and cars couldn't be in any state or territory here.
