    I thought that was a sign of beautiful solidarity and a show of what ARMY can get done. That also was done at a time when I first thought that BLM was not violent and stood for what the name says it does. Unfortunately, I have personally learned as a white nurse, that it does not and I will leave it at that because I do not wish to persuade individual decisions...I just ask that each person please research the BLM that is running the streets of America. I care for ALL lives as a health care professional and I also agree that we should be equal. The Declaration of Independence states,"We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness….” No where in there does it say a color, race or religion. It says All. I am passionate about this because I have multiple races in my family. I would not wish anyone treated or harmed the way I have seen some people (as being a nurse) we need to start seeing past the skin . A person is either inherently good or bad. BLM is not what it started as. Please be careful everyone. My prayers are with you all. I 💜 you. Love Yourself and love your neighbors. BTS +ARMYS 🌎💜=STRONGER TOGETHER & YOUNG FOREVER 💜

    @@heathernile4700 I agree 100% with the actual organization itself is detrimental to society but the struggle and core message is real. You also got to put into account that it was hijacked by antifa and to top it off we had/have a President and his opposition in the middle of everything riling up both sides. At the end of the day the real struggle in society is money and power which ironically is antifas supposed message.

    I listened to a lot of boybands through the decades. The first thing I did when I discovered BTS was to check lyrics, my reaction after a few lyrics was "boy, this is not a boyband!" NKOTB, NSYNC, Take That, Boyzone, BSB... they never wrote lyrics like that...and a bunch didn't wrote at all... That's what set BTS apart. That's what make them be appreciated by older generations. As an adult is refreshing to find such leaders in the younger generations

    Yes, this is where they are really saying F you to the people with wealth & power. Especially with the choreo. And as an American, I can't help but see this as describing America. So yes, this teacher agrees with everything you said.

    Idk know if you guys reacted to it but after watching this reaction I’m remembering a song by BTS that was probably even more political than “Baepsae” called “Am I Wrong” The blatant commentary BTS had in that song was crazy. It was released just before all of Korea marched the streets and got their previous president impeached and BTS basically made a song calling her and other members of the government out, quoting derogatory terms members of the government had referred to the public as They almost got blacklisted from the industry because of that song, but at that point BTS was growing so rapidly that they’re reach was beginning to spread beyond the Korean entertainment industry (Am I Wrong was on the album WINGS) And when she said she could see the pettiness in their performance it immediately reminded me of the performance of Am I Wrong bc BTS again mimics the lyrics like they do for Baepsae but they perform the song in such a way that it seems like a “cute” and “playful” song to those who don’t speak Korean or aren’t paying attention to the lyrics Ahh....that was a lot 😂😂 it’s a great song tho and other ppl have explained everything about it better than me so I’ll link that info: twitter.com/aesopsfablefly/status/1141112201379483655?s=21 kzread.info/dash/bejne/e56Yo7qOfM2cgZM.html

    "Ugh" ( plus the explanation ) is a good political song too, its more of social problem not just education. I don't if you guys have watched this dramas, but if you haven't : "My Ahjussi ", " Moon Embracing the Sun ","Reply 1988" , "Hospital Playlist" and "Prison Playbook" are excellent dramas.

    I wouldn’t exactly say Ugh is a political song. It’s about misplaced anger. The individual should take care to be angry about things that are important - like social justice for sure. But it’s more than that. All of the hate being spread because people have differing opinions or because someone has more clout takes away from the power that true anger has. The civil rights movement and woman’s suffrage for examples are justifiable reasons to be angry and that collective anger changes the world. Being angry at a random person on Twitter dilutes the power of anger.

    @@sugasmeow have you seen the explanation video of “UGH” by DKDKTV? I think that’s what @KakLa is speaking of when they spoke of it being a good political song. Yes, it’s about haters but they also said it’s a social issue because the anger is being displaced on Twitter about nonsense and not what we should be focused on.

    Hi, I used to be a teacher & teacher trainer when I lived in Korea so it's so lovely to see other teacher's reactions here. :) BTS music and their messages are so relatable for many people thought all the generations, I guess. When I listened to their song N.O. for the first time, I just fell in love with BTS and there was no going back for me. Btw, Love your reaction!

    The thing is BTS writes songs about the issues in Korean society when in fact it’s a problem that the whole world face and the whole world should fix this problem!! As a young adult it was so hard to find a job since a lot of jobs they want experience?!! Like how the f*ck am I gonna get an experience when you aren’t accepting me into this job?!! Everyone wants a relationship, a house, a baby, making a family of their own but in order to have that you’ll have to have a job, a good job that pays very well! But then again those companies don’t want to pay you sh*t but also wants you to work like a clock?!!

    Your comments about how "those weren't boyband thrusts"..... exactly! Part of the BTS/ARMY relationship stems from this strange parasocial feeling of friendship, even more than 'romance' ... like, my delusions are more on the side that if I told Jungkook about my day, he could relate and we could have friendly conversation or that RM and I are "in this together "... not anything romantic! BTS manages to get ARMY feel genuine connection through shared experience and story

    13:20 As an Indian what you u said was on point and I’m surprised how you are aware of it. The caste system is not really prevalent in the country now. Okay, totally true, racism on complexion is something that may take a few more years to overcome. The working class having their children also work in offices is a must. Parents here just can’t afford the thought of their children having “failed in life” by not earning how much they have. Loved the reaction and insight shared☺️🖤

    My first love is Bollywood and Tamil/Telegu films. The caste system although not as prevalent is still an issue in Mauritius (majority Mauritius population is of Indian decent) based on what I learned about their political system. That’s what made me bring it up. The complexion and work status I spoke of is from what I’ve seen and heard from movies out of India as well as the deep discussions that I’ve read about in regards to who gets parts. I know that discussion is even deeper than complexions 😳.

    @@LaughCryKLife Your right that they are slow flyers. They fly via thermals, so they glide more than fly. However, most storks do migrate. The White stork & Black Stork both migrate between Europe & Sub-Saharan Africa: some flying all the way to Cape Province in the country of South Africa. The Black Stork which doesn't fly as far, still flies 3500+ mi via their Western migration route or up to 4000+ mi via their Eastern migration route to reach Sub-Saharan West Africa & Central African regions. Now if you're just talking about the basic long-legged body type of wading birds, you could include Sandpipers which migrate much farther. The Terek Sandpiper breeds in Russia & it's border countries while wintering as far south as South Africa & Australia. A vagrant has even been found all the way in Argentina flocking south with local species. Egrets & Flamingoes while typically only migrating within small regions such as from the US to Central America have vagrants which appear on occasion VERY far from their normal range. Several egret species such as the intermediate egret from the Eastern Hemisphere have been found in North America on occasion. The Greater Flamingo has also been found in North America via the Atlantic Ocean.

    Internships (unpaid) should be done away with. Not only is it unfair to not pay for work, but it creates a disparity and acts as a gateway for certain careers and fields. If fields require internships, then only people that don’t need to earn money can afford to take them, which keeps out other qualified people due to economic advantages. And then the wheel just keeps turning. Great reaction, y’all!

    You’re absolutely right! I was fortunate enough to have my family support me during my student teaching. There are other programs where students have to use an allotted sum. But you’re right, that’s not everyone.

    I needed to see this. Sometimes you forget the music that fires you up and moves you to do something different. I have been wondering about all the effort I have been putting into my job that pays me nothing for all the work I put in. It has been frustrating. I was raised with the idea that you just have to work hard and put 120% into everything you do but at 29 I feel broken and worn out. I needed to see this. This isnt the top for me. THANK YOU.

    Great reaction! I love this song and the dance practice video. But once I learned about the meaning behind the lyrics in another video, it just got so much better. Similar economic problems in US and Korea exist. Younger generation putting off dating/marriage, having kids, getting a home. And the older gen just telling them to work harder... it’s true when JK sings “This isn’t justice, you must be kidding me!”... I love BTS and their messages in songs. Gonna check out Spinebreaker after reading the comments, plus some of the other videos mentioned, i.e. Moments of 18, and Sky Castle...🙂💜

    Thank you for you reaction. I am not an American and I often struggle with American culture when it comes to different points of views and discussion about it online. So it is very interesting to listen to your reaction and getting a glimpse behind the things mostly presented online. And just a little note from a country with many storchs. They can fly and are long distance travelers.

    I'm from Italy, and is literally almost the same everywhere in the world... I know Americans often do not think outside America, so they are shocked when they see that things are "like in America" (i am not talking about you two 😂)... What I am understanding watching BTS and american reactions is that, more or less, the situation is almost the same everywhere. I thought "passion pay" was something that was pretty much done here in Italy (and is done so often actually, expecially in the South of Italy, where i live), but I see... This is everywhere, so this song is so much relatable for every person of every part of the world. So cool Btw, Just Subscribed, i really like to see a teacher point of view on BTS, i hope u will use them in your classes, i would have loved to have modern teacher teaching me this way... So much interesting! BTS have the best and Very different messages in their songs 💜

    Oooh in regards to young people getting paid less, it happens in the uk as well. They have these things called apprenticeships where youngsters are expected to do the same job as the more mature employees but they are getting paid significantly less, in accordance with their age. This really shocked me when I first move to the uk because, while I understand that person might not have any experience, to expect them to learn fast and do the same amount of work and difficulty level as the more experienced workers when he/she is getting paid less seems irrational to me. I didn't know this happened in the us and korea as well

    It’s good but will make you dislike many of the adult characters. Moments at 18 and School 2017 are also good KDramas to watch when it comes to adult expectations and treatment of students.

    Yes, the disparity between the wealthy and the poor is worldwide and very relatable however just did want to point out how S.Koreans may have it tougher since their culture is extremely competitive academic wise hence their college life is a lot less privileged than here in the U.S from what I have heard. I think the mental toll is a lot higher in those circumstances so comparing it to America seems a little unbalanced although what you said is true. Hope you can continue having good discussions like this 👍 I love BTS💜♾️

    I live in Chile (am a Venezuelan immigrant) and the economic system is the exact same as S.K and everyone is sick of it in here. I have struggled terribly with finding employment because I have no college degree nor am from an affluent family. Aside from the fact they make it almost impossible to be a legal immigrant and they won't hire people without permanent residency which takes 2 years to obtain... So yeah I'm kinda fucked.

    Truck drivers, those working in grocery stores, and any one else who are considered essential who may not have a college degree are out there more than those making big salaries... If not them than who? They do jobs that we don’t think of until we have to.

    A stork can fly and soar but a crowtit cannot soar (using wings to let wind keep you aloft without flapping), their wings are too small compared to body. They can fly though.

    Love you both! But, yes, BTS is not a boy band "in the meaning of the act". From the very start they were political, and still are - no statement is more political than "Love yourself". Map of the soul follows the same path ... look at ON, if you want to see defiance. The message underpinning all BTS' work is grass roots political- self development, inclusivity, caring for others and challenging societal pressure by being yourself. That's why I am ARMY.

    Since we are combining the topic with Sky Castle and Moments in part 2 I though Baepsae was a better choice. I also thought she'd enjoy the style and choreo of Baepsae better. We're extending the conversation of education to overall adult expectations of children and how that affects society and young people. Education is not just what happens in schools is kind of our point.

    I still cant see Baepsae have anything to do with the two dramas you've mentioned. Lyrics from N.O. actually mentioned FROM SEOUL TO THE S.K.Y.(3 most prestige university in SK) Parents willing to do anything to get their children into these 3 schools. Most Asian parent force their dream onto their children. Dont take me wrong. I love Baepsae and is one of BTS most political song about SK class systems.

    @@pennyyoung3997 This is Yolanda. I hope you don’t mind, I wanted to give my perspective as well. In my opinion music is symbolic and can cover many topics even it’s not explicitly stated. Although it was my first time hearing it I saw the connection. I believe education is a form of a cast/class system. If you don’t come from the “right” educational background you don’t have the same opportunities as those who do. When I watched the video it made me think of generational and class divides and I thought about how these same sentiments are also used as a tool to keep students down and divided. To be quite honest, the video helped me understand why this theme keeps showing up in most of the Kdramas I watch regarding prestigious schools. The notion of stay in your place as well as keep with the old system/ways of doing things. The video may not have been explicitly about education or the schools in Korea but as a teacher I know all too well how bureaucracy, money, and adults’ poor decisions are what affect schools and children the most. I will definitely check out the video you suggested and maybe we can make a part three to add to this much needed conversation. Thank you again for the suggestions and great conversation!

    I really can’t agree with your analysis on the American economic system. Youth today have it so much easier when it comes to getting an education. Everyone can be successful if they grab hold of the opportunities right in front of them. The opportunity to go to college is much greater than in previous generations. We can’t make excuses for why we are not successful. This country has so many opportunities for everyone. Look at how young people are using the KZread platform to become successful. It takes grit and tenacity to make it. People in general refuse to take responsibility for their own lives.

    Honestly, your comment reads exactly like the storks referenced in the song. You are not incorrect that there are many opportunities in America. Unfortunately, the American public school systems are not preparing students for the current openings that exist domestically or globally. That is not an excuse. As a person who has worked in the schools and experienced the curriculum decisions of the last 15 years I can tell you that the current standards and infrastructure are not developing the skills and mindsets students need to take opportunities and succeed.

I’m not some conglomerate who is trying to “stick it to the man.” I see first hand the lack of parental support, which leads to children who do not value education. It is a societal issue, not a governmental or economic issue. Rich or poor, when you do not take advantage of all opportunities, you will not be as successful as those who do. It’s time we stop blaming others and look in the mirror. I came from nothing. My husband came from nothing. We built a wonderful life because we took advantage of this unequaled nation of freedom and opportunity.

    @@sugasmeow This is Yolanda. I think what we’re saying as well as the song is it’s not as Black and White as the world makes it. We used the two KDramas because it shows how everyone doesn’t start off on the same levels. I will use the classroom as an example since you’re an educator. I believe firmly in not learning about my students’ background before the year starts. I want to give my students a fresh start. That allows me to get to know them for who they are and the potential they possess. But I’ve seen way too many teachers use students’ past against them. These children never have a fighting chance. Day one they’re already labeled “troublemakers”. It’s demoralizing. Imagine that’s how your entire school career is? How motivated are you to endure school? How motivated are you to support schools as a parent if your school experience was terrible? Children who are labeled don’t always receive the same students who may be seen as a star student or the most well behaved student. It is assumed that the trouble maker will always cause troubles, the star student will always do well academically, and the most well behaved student will was behave. In both shows the students who didn’t come from wealthy backgrounds were assumed to be troublemakers or lacking. The same happens in our classrooms. We make assumptions about children who are still learning. Here’s another school scenario. I know kids who work their butts off to get scholarships, get high GPAs, and look like the well rounded student just to be denied because guess what they’re other students just like them try their best to go for the same opportunities. They wind up wearing themselves out only to end up with a job that doesn’t pay as well and living check to check. Because they’re working so hard they may not be able to make all the school functions or be as active in their child’s school. They’re child may also be the “troublemaker” of the school. Is it fair to assume they don’t care because they’re not as supportive as other parents? The point of both scenarios is we don’t know our parents’ background. As teachers we never think about why parents act the way they do. I know I didn’t until someone made me aware that some parents have really bad school experiences and it then carries over. They don’t trust schools. I’ve learned the hard way that these assumptions are ignorant and arrogant. From experience I was ignorant because I didn’t know my parents backgrounds and always made assumptions. And I was arrogant thinking I knew what I would do and how my child would be until I was humbly put in my place. My first child was the “troublemaker”. And those assumptions (I wasn’t supportive) were made about me. As Joyce said and as the song (Baespae) eludes to, the system was setup in a way that wasn’t designed to serve everyone. If you look up the history of the U. S. educational system it was actually designed to train/prepare skilled workers. Remember only the elite males were educated. When it became public for all we were at the beginning of creating the infrastructure we have now. Check out this timeline. You will see over and over again how schools would “teach children how to be obedient workers.” www.raceforward.org/research/reports/historical-timeline-public-education-us I agree with you, the blame game has to stop. That includes us as teachers blaming parents. There are flaws in all the systems simply because they (economic, education, and government) weren’t designed with everyone in mind. Until we acknowledge that and our flaws as humans we will continue to point fingers rather than come up with solutions, provide tools that everyone has access to, and be encouraging and supportive along the way things will continue to be the same.     @@LaughCryKLife systems have flaws, but it comes down to personal responsibility. There has to come a time in everyone’s life when you just have to accept that it is all about the effort you make. Not your mama, not your situation, not you teachers - you. I did t have parents who supported education. I realized that in order to achieve what I wanted to achieve in life I need to do it myself.

    Now, if you watch any k-drama you know that the hierarchy there is much different and that is what BTS is speaking of. There is a true class system. If you are born a dirty spoon, it is nearly impossible to overcome it.
