Absolutely LOVE the classroom community check in that you did. I’m totally inspired to do something like this when we go back to school after February break. Thanks for sharing! Also you’re doing great! Classroom management is tricky. I talk with my class a lot about my job as a teacher is to teach, create a classroom that allows for learning & keep everyone safe. Their job is to learn, allow others to learn and make safe choices. Then I try to follow this conversation up with, so what do we need to do to do our jobs and make promises? I also brainstorm logical consequences if we aren’t doing our jobs. With all that said it’s a lot easier to know and say these things then follow through with sometimes. I definitely struggle with students blurting also!

Right?? Thank you for relating!! It feels like I can have all the conversations in the world, but if they don’t choose to put in the effort to change, it won’t happen. But I’ll keep trying!! Also, if you’d like a copy of what I used for the classroom community thing, just let me know!

I teach fourth and I have a class just like yours. I've cried twice over these kids just not doing what needs to be done and my homeroom literally can not stand them. My homeroom is chill and we can have a little more fun compared to the other class. Anyway, hang in there. Keep doing what you're doing. I reset just about every week. The more we teach the more experienced when get. ❤️

I totally get it!! It’s hard out there to be positive and continue being the adult in the room who can handle things well. I have hope that we’ll figure it out someday due to all that experience we’re getting!
