Cassie Reno I’m sure the parents would have to hope in vain that the kids themselves wouldn’t interpret those lectures they’d have to deal with as too many boring, incomprehensible words coming out of the parents’ mouths, which could easily be explained by that “wah wah wah” sound in the Peanuts cartoons!

Cassie Reno Kids act better with you then their own parents sometimes? Thats funny because when I tell my 11 year old daughter to do something..she gives me a hard time and says "I didn't do it", I tell her again to just do it..and she comes up with another excuse why not to do it... then I have to get in a serious tone of voice and tell her to do it or she'll have something taken away.... Finally she goes to do it..but screaming and yelling throughout my house like she's having a baby. BUT...if her friend is over at our house and I tell my daughter to do something...she does it immediately, even speaking in a gentle voice saying "ok Dad!". Strange..🤔

Cassie Reno Well Im sorry if I have a manly voice and not the voice of the guy from "Blue Clues" or even "Mr Rodgers(neighborhood)". Always...everytime initially...when I see something that my daughter did, I just tell her WITHOUT confrontation in a normal voice. My voice is my voice, its the same way I speak to adults or anyone(except a really cute puppy). But anyway....after I let her know(in my normal voice) what she did or didnt do...she ignores me or either says.."I didn't do it". Should I just let that slide or continuious speak repeatedly in my normal voice about what she did or didn't do like a malfunctioning robot? If I know her...she wouldn't take what I say seriously..she would think I'm just playing with her or acting.... Therefore she wouldn't do anything about her wrong and ignore me, going back to doing what she's doing. I believe the parent needs to be respected AND listened to first. Why? Because the parent is the first and only source of all that they have(until they are 18). Everything they own... Every diaper change... Every bite of food... Every house lived in.... Every electronic played... Every piece of clothing down to the socks... Comes from a parent. And thing is...the parents works hard to make sure the child(ren) enjoy life with those things...and they work hours and hours for nearly two decades(sometimes more) just to make sure the child(ren) has everything they need to enjoy life. And thing is...Children will never ever understand the stress of work and home COMBINED...until one of two things happen: - When you bring them to your job(which is rare because your boss might not allow that due to the work environment), to show them what you have to do everyday, so they can appreciate how much you do for them and what you go through. OR - Have a mental breakdown in front of the children, so they can clearly see how much stress and depression you're going through trying to stabilize work and home. If neither of those two happen...then they will never understand what you go through raising them and working. All they will understand are the things they have...which are an PS4 or Roblox, or KZread videos, or My Little Pony. Now...me.. personally....I plan on bringing my daughter with me to work next month(when their school is out). I'm a delivery truck driver and drive on average about 150 miles a day...but not before driving TO WORK 70 miles each way(I live in Utah). And its not to punish her....Its so she can know what I do for her each day when I go to work, and how far I have to drive..FOR HER. I tell my daughter I work delivering to cow farms(which I do), she never grasp what I do when I just tell her...even in detail. So I plan to show her. She doesn't respect me because she asks for ALOT of things in which she knows are not good for her, and I don't give it to her...she even ask for things that she can easily do on her own(a simple task). Most the time I guide her to do those things, and she just says..."I cant do iiiiit!!" without even trying. She's just lazy.. don't feel like doing stuff. She didn't get that(laziness)from me, I workout, go on runs and do all the manly stuff(moving heavy objects, fixing both family cars, going food shopping for family). So.......please.. Don't go around blaming parents that are trying their very best, and trying to get the right chemistry and the right balance in their household. Parents would NEVER EVER ask or wish for a misbehaved child... Parents are humans too..and make mistakes..and we learn from our mistakes, sometimes its takes an a week..some times a decade...some times never...but we learn from our mistakes and try our very best to make sure those mistakes don't happen again. BUT..its very difficult with so much emotions tied into raising a child...with how they are acting, and how you need for them to act.

Fuck that, I'll wait til shit settles down or til being an educator doesn't require a degree anymore due to lack of teachers lmfao. Hopefully shit gets better but it doesn't look like it.

Alicia Ornelas As a parent whose child attended the same school district this teacher Julie Marburger teaches at, I can tell you the problems are not only with the parents and students. If you Google Bastrop ISD you can read about problems dating back years from teachers ,to administration, to parents, to the students. My husband and I taught my daughter young that she had a big brain and she was going to college and we weren't paying for it, because there are to many scholarships she can earn. So, when she started kindergarten we made a contract with her stating our expectations: 1) We don't accept any grade lower than an A, 2) When you go to school your teacher is your boss and your grades are your pay 3)You do not talk in class unless the teacher calls on you 4) If you don't agree with something your teacher says or does you tell your parents and we will decide how to handle it 5) If you get into trouble at school you will get into trouble at home. These are the consequences: 1) No Tv show 2) No company 3) No sports 4) Spanking. I signed it, her daddy signed it and she had to sign it. This was our yearly routine. From kindergarten to 6th grade her dad and I were very involved with school, we were constantly asked to bring snacks because mom liked to go through the cookbook and made the cool snacks, we took turns sitting in her classes as room monitors. The teachers loved it because the kids acted better with a parent in the classroom. Things changed and problems began when my daughter got to 7th grade, then we learned we were not wanted there, we were asked by her teachers why are you here? You need to let her grow up and so on. So, the parents that were involved stop coming to the schools. We did not. The majority of my daughter's teachers were great. Exceptional really. They were appreciative we cared enough to be involved. But, we had a few that were not, those are the ones we had issues with. 7th grade Pre-AP I Texas history teacher Texas history teacher was subjective with the students grades, mine included. 8th grade the school principal told my daughter she looked look a gang member because she wore a black and white banana as a headband to match her black and white t-shirt. My honor roll kid, who never got into trouble at school and never talked, looked like a gang member. Being a very detailed parent, I knew the student handbook backwards and forward so I always set up conferences to try to solve situations. What I learned is when you try to have a conference when there is a conflict no one hears each other. The teacher is thinking of ways to defend themselves and the parent is focused on defending their child. Nothing gets solved. Starting freshman year, Hubby and I decided to start having conferences with all of daughters teachers 3 weeks after school started. The teachers were always on edge and worried. Their first words were "V has all A's in my class". I tell them I know, the reason I called for a conference is because there isn't a problem, so you can hear me and I can hear you. I told them my goal is for my daughter to go to college and I wasn't paying for it. So, what can I do to help you help me make that happen? Of course, most of the teachers were relieved and had excellent advise on my daughter being successful in their classes and also advising me on her applying for scholarships even if we didn't think she would qualify for them. We had 2 teachers my daughter's Junior year that didn't take us seriously. The one AP English teacher kept giving daughter zeroes for assignments she turned in. It turned out she graded the papers and put them in a basket but did not input the grades. She would then deduct 20 points off the grade she gave in the fist place for it being late. I had another conference with her and that angered her so she kept giving my daughter zeroes. Now, mind you my daughter is ranked 10th out of 472 students and this woman is messing with my daughter's future. In the student handbook it says you cannot request a teacher change you could request a level down though. I refused to request a level down because my daughter could and did do the work this was a teacher issue. So, second semester I told my daughter to schedule an appt. With her school counselor and ask for a different AP English teacher. I told her if the counselor said no schedule an appt for me to see her. She was switched into a different AP English class. Also, during her Junior year she had a Pre-AP physics teacher who was a former elementary teacher trying to teach physics and didn't do it well, so the smart kids got together and taught themselves. Then they had to do a project and write a paper. This was a major grade. Daughter turned hers in early. We get her report card and she has a 70. She talked to her physics teacher and he told her she didn't turn in the written part so she made a 50 on her project. She told him she turned it in early and showed him on her USB the essay and it was dated to show when it was last edited. It turned out half the class got a 50 on their project. They all turned their papers in early. The teacher laid the folder with their essays down, he says someone must have stolen it. Another ding on my daughters GPA. Thankfully, most of the teachers she had from freshman year she had her Senior year so she had a great senior year. Like I said, she had majority of great teachers. She had a handful of bad apple teachers. She was fortunate enough to have parents that supported and advocated for her. She graduated 11th out of 472 in her class. She was awarded a lot of money in scholarships. She attended and graduated from an Ivy League University. V sent each and every teacher from kinder to senior year who made a positive impact in her college success a graduation invitation and a picture with a personal letter thanking them for their role in preparing her for college and just overall caring about her succeeding. Even though I told her I was not paying for college, I have a student loan of under $10,000 that I am paying. Watch this face🙄🤗😂. It only takes one teacher to have a major impact on a student, but it only takes one teacher to ruin a student, especially if that student does not have support at home. It disappoints me that Mrs. Marburger decided to post her frustrations on social media because there may be that one student that she may have reached that was basically thrown out with the bath water. If a teacher gets that frustrated maybe it is best to get out of it. I would advise teachers to watch Ted Talks Rita Pierson's "Every kid needs a champion". She was a former educator in Texas with wonderful advise to other teachers.

When we were young if you did something stupid in school the first thing out of your mouth was "please don't tell my Mom". Punishment would be much worse at home. As it should be. I work with many young people and they are not taught any respect or discipline anymore. They think the whole world needs to do what they want. Raising your kid as if they are the ones in charge and can do no wrong is why there are school shooters now. If you actually love your child then you would raise them to be prepared for the real world. It is full of disappointments and someone is always going to tell you what to do. Raising kids otherwise is making their life so much harder for them.

100% agree with this teacher. Parents and teachers must be a team not "whatever the teacher says is always wrong and i will always defend my child no matter what" the children need to know that their wrong behavior has consequences. They need to learn FIRST by their parents respect towards others and parents should stay away from using profanity in front of their kids because kids think that's ok. Children bring that behavior to school and influence kids that really are just trying to learn and pass to the next grade level.

But all the kids during break were saying all sorts of profanity. I know the classroom is different. I know it is a rule to be followed. But it seems idealistic to think the kids are so innocent.

Nan M+ The thing that pisses me off the most, is when the kid bullies another kid, and then when the parent of the victim approaches the bully's mom, they turn round and say: "Oh, are you sure? My kid would never do that! You must be mistaken! Watch- SAMANTHA, HONEY, DID YOU HIT LAURA YESTERDAY?!" Samantha (blinks innocently): "No mommy, of course not...!" (Sends evil grin towards Laura. Laura folds her arms and glowers.) Samantha's mom (smiles): There, you see? My Samantha's an angel! I think dear Laura may be a little over-sensitive... Would you like to see some of Samantha's baby pics? I taught her to take a selfie by age two! What a little genius! Aww, isn't she cute...?" Laura's mom (grits her teeth): "Really?" 😒 Laura: 😢😢😢 "But mommy! She did hit me yesterday, she's lying!" Laura's mom (grabs Laura's hand and marches toward the school): "I know she did, sweetie! She is telling the trurh. These parents are not helping their children by coddling them. Parents have to prepare their children for the real world. They are setting their children up for failure. This a result of parenting skills, which a lot of parents do not have any and do not take the time to discipline their children and teach them right from wrong and teach them respect for their elders. Bit soon as they go out here and get in trou le with stealing, fighting, guns and the law gets involved, the first thing parents want to say, they are good children.Parents get mad when someone calls them out about their children's bad behavior. Children's behavior are a reflection of their parents. You are the one who chose to have children.

One of the many reasons I homeschool. Both my parents were public school teachers and encouraged me to homeschool. A student tried to poison my dad, he had his car keyed, and he had his phone stolen multiple times. It was disgusting to see his teenage students treat my dad that way. My mom was stuck in a classroom full of 35 kindergarteners multiple years; illegal and a fire safety code violation. How can anyone learn in that environment? Teachers are amazing, selfless people that truly want to encourage their students and change the world for the better; but they just have too much on their plates and the system they have to work within doesn't support them.

My brother is raising his kids the same way we were raised. You follow the rules you get freedom, break them and there will be hell to pay. There is really only a few rules of parenting that every parent needs to stick to as far as dicipline. #1 bed time is non-negotiable #2 if you say it mean it. Do not threaten a punishment you are not willing to uphold. Actually follow through. Example time. As a child I took a tantrum to end all tantrums in a store. My mother threatened to never take me out again if I continued. I did, so she didn't take me out shopping for a year. They would go every two weeks and every time she would tell me I was not going because I didn't know how to behave. I heard that 26 times before she finally relented. I never gave her a problem again.

Paula Ault , students should be thought from home that number one rule in school is to Respect their teachers, two is to respect other students three is to make a full focus on their studies. Please parents, talk to your kids about the importance of respecting teachers. Imagine if all parents are doing homeschooling, are you telling me that some kids would still disrespect their parents during their homeschooling hours and parents would not do anything? Children should treat their teachers as we want them to treat us as parents. I am a parents, I am from Africa but now a USA citizen. I will never follow the USA gov rule when it comes to parenting.

Parents, please remember that allowing children to face negative consequences for bad behavior is NOT child abuse. It's much better to allow the consequences when they are younger and not as severe, than to wait until they are older and the consequences are much more significant. This can start when a child is even under 2 years. And it's an important way of loving them.

My mom has been a teacher for over twenty years, I can't tell you how many times she's come home in tears, not because of a student (she's a tough lady who can handle her classroom) but because of how a parent treated her and how administrators sided with the parents. Nobody wants to believe their child can do any wrong.

COMPLETELY understand.... I taught 8th grade science and the attitudes of parents and children are nothing short of rude, disrespectful and entitled. Parents are doing a serious disservice to their children and their community by allowing their children to "get away with" a myriad of actions. If they are our future then they should be better prepared for the world that they will soon discover will not tolerate such behaviors and attitudes.

She is absolutely right about disrespectful students and parents who behave just as badly; they learn it at home, and that is not okay. As another viewpoint on the matter: when are parents supposed to teach their children or even be able to spend time with them? Many kids are sent home with so much utterly useless homework (often that was poorly explained using convoluted and ridiculous methods apparently mandated at a federal level) that children have to stay up half the night to even complete it all, and then they get up early and start the whole thing over again. Few ADULTS could function under that kind of stress, let alone children. To make matters worse, the parents often must work multiple jobs, cutting what family time they DO have. And entertainment often glorifies destructive behavior, foul language, and rudeness. What do we expect?

If a teacher can't give a SERIOUS consequence then kids can and will run the school. We have an epidemic in this country and I hate to say it, BUT if you want to fix it then ... you're going to have to beat a few kids (edit: & parents) till they understand, they are NOT in control. You did this to yourselves. You let your kids do anything and it resulted in making them spoiled monsters who think they're the center of the universe.

I feel horrible for this teacher. I've met some disrespectful teachers, and some really good ones. My children KNOW to behave in class and to trear their teachers with respect- or there will be consequences. Like washing a neighbors car or cleaning nanas house. I have a child with special needs and he acts better than most of the kids in his class. It's crazy! I wouldn't say coddling, though. To be exact. And I mean no disrespect. Because as parents, we want to keep our kids safe. And at young ages ( Prek-4th), they're vulnerable and easily taken for granted( silenced) in the class room. But instead, I would say enabled. Disrespectful behavior, verbal abuse, bad attitude and treatment of others, is the problem. I've met some parents who were literal heathens, and taught their kids the same. Bless this Teacher. She deals with too much. As a parent, I'm sorry this is your day to day. 😞 A healthy teacher is a healthy environment. And successful kids.

The. Nerve. Also, I guess you haven't heard or looked at any national statistics on the number of potential education majors --as of 2016, enrollment was at an all time low in teacher programs. It simply isn't true that there is a long line of young people lining up to become teachers, and with stories like these and other issues, it's no wonder.

Discipline needs to be back to reality. Real consequences, not just words but actions. And administration must back up the teachers. School boards must back up school rules. A teacher should have parents sign a class rules policy. Make sure Administration knows you’re having that policy in your class and if that child violates that policy, the teacher will enforce those rules. Call parents, document those calls, and keep communication open. RESPECT is the key.

IMO parents these days try way too hard to “be” a parent without actually parenting. Parenting does not mean you side with your kid at all times, you’re supposed to teach them important life skills and character qualities. Just look at how many things moms bring in their designer diaper bags these days - it’s like their packing for every scenario imaginable plus more. And parents aren’t serious enough when disciplining. Saying “we don’t take what’s not ours...” in a sweet voice won’t do squat. And so many parents today have become just as petty and rude themselves. Just look at how adults comment online, everyone wants to have the last word! It’s frightening.

Same in the UK! Teachers get dissed by parents, inspectors, the government! I think part of the problem is - parents are expecting teachers, not just to teach their kids, but to raise them! The job of raising kids is the parents' but many are lazy (thankfully not all are). Parents need to wise up! The government inspectors go into the classroom looking for negative things - a few inspectors are drop out teachers who couldn't teach! How demoralizing for the teachers! The government itself says schools need to do this and that, they change things without having a clue what it's like! They set ridiculous targets!

Discipline. Thats the issue. And you dont have to incorporate spankings in order to discipline a child. however, the children have to understand that adults are NOT their friend and respect is due. Take away a game from them, ban them from recreational activity but do whatever you can to show your child that let them know actions have consequences and that they don't have the upper hand in the situation. Spoiled children turn into spoiled ADULTS. Remember that.

I am a parent who work with teachers and always told my son to be respectful and follow rules. He has always been a good student and I’ve always got compliments for his kindness. So when I started having problems with a teacher’s treatment of my child it got bad. It became a retaliation against me for expressing my discontent which reflected on how my son was going to get treated. It ended when I decided to have a meeting with the entire school staff and brought witnesses and basically gave instructions on how my son will be treated from that point on. I asked what were the issues and no one had nothing to say except nice things. But I did bring all the negative letters and emails as proof and recordings. Needless to say the situation was put to rest. I know many teachers are awesome but there is always one that is mean 😔

IMO the teacher's complaint is an administrative issue. These are 6th graders. What rules and consequences are set by the school for misbehaving students? If the teacher has repeated issues with a student, then her complaint (call) should be forwarded to a guidance counselor or the dean. Her gripe is with school administration for not having supportive services for overwhelmed teachers. IDK the student or the parent's account, but stopping a class to contact a working parent on speakerphone, posting and touring about job complaints is not the right move.... and unprofessional.

Parents need to show their children unlimited love but do not reward bad behaviour. If parents do not let their children know that there will be consequences if they behave like little brats they will continue this behaviour.

Jane Dough It's about the number of discipline referrals schools have to officially report to their districts. The less official referrals your school reports, the better image the school has. It reflects on the school, the principals and the district. So- teachers are sometimes forced to "eat" the excessive bad behavior so as not to raise the number of discipline referrals.

In theory, the teacher can go to administration for disciplinary issues. But in reality, the administration (principal, vice principal) are politicians: Their job is to keep the peace among all stakeholders, parents, students, teachers, caretaking staff, even the local community, law enforcement and the media. But there's a power differential at play here: They answer to the superintendent and the school board, not to teachers. Overbearing parents will often go over their heads and file complaints to their bosses based on the stories the child relays to them without properly consulting either the teacher in question or the principle. Oftentimes, the administration just finds it easier to placate the parent, even when evidence shows that the teacher was right. For this reason, teachers often don't feel supported by their administration and are encouraged to document EVERY behavioural problem that occurs (which is multiple times daily) in case they're taken to court... but even with ample evidence to protect you, your name will have been slandered and your reputation as an educator ruined. This is the culture of fear that today's teachers are facing.

The problem is that the parents are coddling their kids when they don't get their way. The parent goes to the Administration to complain. The parents bully the Administration and then the Administration then bullies the teacher. But it all comes down to the parents coddling their babies and whining to the administration about it. That is the Genesis, the parents.

My mom was friends with my teacher so disrespecting would have never worked and parents that raise their children to think that it's okay to disrespect their teachers needs it to rethink what they're teaching their children

Never take this stuff to facebook. Talk to your parents and find ways to support and create understanding. I get that parents can be hard to deal with. Students too. For the record, I myself am a teacher. I fully see where she's coming from.

For some reason parents don't want to parent anymore...they want to be their friends instead because any form of parenting is "abuse" nowadays to them. If you want to be a kids friend be an aunt or uncle so you don't have to be the "bad guy".👍🏻

Oh man It must be so frustrating for so many teachers I can't imagine, especially if the parents don't do much to help. This may not be related to the video, but i was out having a picnic with two friends when this little child came up to us and just sat at our table. It made me feel concerned for the child because the mother was just sitting far away on a bench on her phone letting her kid run free. Like come on, are you really going to let your child out of your sight like that? What if her child went up to some pedophile!

My brother was a trouble maker definitely a class Clown. Kept back a full year for failing classes. He’s definitely dyslexic and I think he was too cocky to admit he couldn’t grasp the learning process, he didn’t understand.

Awesome teacher for standing up for herself! The parent & student being disrespectful in school is one thing. Entering the real world, getting & keeping a job is a totally different reality that will never put up w/ disrespectful behavior. I feel sorry for kids who have parents damaging their lives with lack of discipline & proper guidance.

Wow it’s no surprise that kids are disrespectful but their parents enabling this behavior is shocking. Whenever I get in trouble at school my parents always take the teachers side. Their not helping their kids at all by always taking their side. Their teaching them that they can behave any way they want and not have any consequences and that is a destructive mentality to have.

So true! It's a parents job to prepare their kids for life and being able to take care of them self. I can't imagine my child disrespecting a teacher. if I have a problem with a teacher that conversation will happen between me and the teacher with out my child being present, an adult conversation!
