When your dog knows this cue well, it is not only amazing at keeping their attention on you, it increases their confidence generally and strengthens the bond you share. Good luck!

I have had a reactive dog for 11 years, and oh my god this command has not only saved me, but it has saved his reputation. Neighbors don’t even know that he was a reactive dog because I didn’t let him make iContact with other dogs, which prevented the other dogs from being triggered, as well as my own. It’s honestly been a lifesaver.

I'm so pleased my video has helped you. You must have worked hard to perfect the Watch when your dog sees approaches others. It's so powerful and kerps your dog's attention as well as improving the bond you share. Thanks so much for letting me know about your huge success!

I taught my German Shepherd dog to stare at me in the eyes by sitting in the grass with him and spitting small pieces of boiled or baked chicken breast to him immediately upon his making eye contact. If he missed, I'd quickly grab it up to prevent him from getting it. I gradually increased the time between eye contact and reward and in only 2 days time I had a very reliable base for obedience work. I find that if you can hold the reward in your mouth, the dog is already focused on your face instead of your hands. The missed pieces get recycled for other training exercises fed by hand or spot.

Hi. Once the dog gets the idea that looking you in the eye results in 'Good!' and maybe a reward, then I introduce the word 'Watch'. Before that they wouldn't understand it. Then you can use 'Watch' to keep bringing their attention back to you so they stare at you for longer and longer. Hope that makes sense.
