How to Teach Watch Me to Dog

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Look at me and watch me is a fundamental skill that forms the foundation of any real dog training. In this video, we'll show you how to teach your dog to look at you on command. Eye contact is an essential brick in the foundation of dog training, and dogs naturally look into human eyes for contact. Because of this, it's a relatively easy step to teach them to look at you when asked. We'll use positive reinforcement techniques, such as treats and praise, to motivate your dog to learn this skill. You'll see how to break the behavior down into small steps and how to gradually increase the difficulty as your dog becomes more comfortable. Our featured dog, Delta the German Shepard, will demonstrate how to teach your dog to look at you. Whether you're a seasoned dog trainer or a beginner, this video has something for everyone. So if you want to teach your dog the fundamental skill of look at me, this is the video for you!

Thank you for the videos, I have really improved my recall thanks to your method. I have done two recalls in front of dogs, then a cat and joggers. With a very shy dog. Don't the sunglasses get in the way during this exercise?

So great to hear your dogs recall has improved!! I’ll hopefully have some more recall videos up soon with a bit more detail in them than my original one! I don’t have any issues with most dogs with sunglasses on. However, if I was having trouble connecting with a dog I would definitely experiment with removing them and seeing if that improves the engagement the dog gives the handler!

@@jamiethedogtrainer1735 Ok thanks! I used to reward her directly when she came back, but I think it bored her. With throwing and allowing her to chase the treat, she comes back even during distractions!
