TEACH YOUR BABY TO SIGN - BABY SIGN LANGUAGE BASICS + 5 EASY SIGNS

Helllllllo out there! Today's video is super cool! It is all about the why, when, and how of baby sign language! Baby sign language is not really a language - it's actually more of a pantomime - that allows your child to communicate their needs long before they are able to speak. You will be amazed when you child is able to ask for things like milk or a new diaper with their hands - instead of with tears or crying! Plus I show you 5 of our favorite and most used signs so you can give them a try! Thank you for watching and don't forget to subscribe❤️Instagram : @mykidsaredirtyagain

Aww I think it's a good idea for babies to learn sign language for sure. It helps them communicate thier needs and prolly lowers some of the stress babies may feel. Especially since they can't communicate with words yet. I myself wish I had learned some sign language when I was younger. It is far easier to learn another language in younger years. I eventually want to learn all of sign language but I can start with these 5 first. I will definitely use them to communicate with my baby, when we have one.

thank you so much for making this video. I stressed myself out a few months ago with learning too many asl signs and kind of stopped but I'm going to try to be much more positive and consistent.

These tips are great. My 5 year old is on the spectrum and is mostly nonverbal. Recently we discovered he is more likely to sign. It's been frustrating knowing that the best way to communicate with my son is by using a method of communication I don't even know. This really made sense though. I think we will both be learning slowly and naturally.

Glad it was helpful to you. I have a brother that lives with ASD and he was very slow to speak. Now at 18 he won't ever be quiet. 😜. I remember my mom doing lots of signs and things with him as he was working to learn to talk. It can definitely be helpful when you are working through those though phases and you just want to communicate. Wishing you the best of luck.

Thank you for the info. I hope I can manage to stay consistent and teach my almost 8 month old. I just want to say although this video is older, if your dresser isn't attached to the wall that is very dangerous. I had a friend's baby die from a dresser falling on him. It's just something I'm super aware of. No judgement just letting you know ! 💜

This is a really important thing to bring awareness too. Yes, our dressers are secured to the wall. It's a simple safety measure that has a big impact. So sorry to hear about your friend.

My son is 4 weeks today and last night he started crying and making the sign for milk. I have not done any sign with him yet so I was like holy crap! So I got a bottle ready for him and yep that’s what he wanted So now I want to start teaching him more signs!

Correct! I think some baby signs are modified from asl to make them easier for a baby to do them. In all of my book about baby sign language they are sure to make a distinction in the beginning. I think for baby signing you can even make up your own signals as long as you are consistent with them. The point it to associate the hand motion with what is happening because it is much easier for the baby to sign that to speak early on. Hope that helps :)
