Hi just bought one of these from a chap who has serviced and transformed to power supply in the uk. Haven't received yet but looking forward to it. Will try and upload a pic or 2 once I've set up.

I've taken delivery of my teac x1000r the person who sold it to me has done minor repairs and changed the transformer to a UK spec. The unit came without feet and wooden cabinet. On further inquiry it was used in a recording studio on a rack of sorts so have to source original feet. I've also taken it apart as the insides need a good clean. I then want to silence some of the clicking noises made by the solenoid. I've seen some videos that speak of putting rubber to soften the solenoids noise.

The Teacs tended to gum up with old grease in the pinch roller lift section. I had a X2000M which did that. Had to dismantle and fix, and replace the belts.

Your videos have proved invaluable to me Bigg Matt! My silver X1000R (purchased new in 82’) with less than 200 hours, came back live (20+ years in the closet). The pinch rollers mechanism was glued with old oil and the capstan belt was broken and melted down! Followed your procedures on the pinch rollers and put a new belt that I had. Also, cleaned the pots with a little DeOxIt. She’s back 100% and dancing! Heads are like new! Now working on cleaning 20 years of cigarette smoke and other herbs 😂. Any recommendations for cleaning the brushed aluminum plate? I’m thinking Zep (green) and Mr. Clean eraser… Zep worked great cleaning the plastic case of all the nicotine. Thanks for sharing the videos… Be safe.. Cheers.

Great video. My problem is with the tape hubs. They are hard to turn, what should I be looking for? Thank you for your time answering this question. Bob

Very good video. I have the same problem with the pinch rollers won't move. Thought I would use your video to repair, however I have a teac x-2000r. Have not been able to remove plastic cover that is referred to in the service manual diagram as Ref# 1-Housing Base to get to the pinch roller mechanism that won't move. Removed the 4 screws as shown in diagram. I must be missing something else that needs to be done.. The cover shown in your video for the 1000 is different from the one on my 2000. Hoping you can guide me to what I need to do to get the cover off. Also what are you using to clean and lubricate the pinch roller mechanism

Hello big Matt love your videos and choice of music in the background. I have recently gotten a teac x1000r, do have some static in the controls, waiting on my dioxit, and new capstan belt to come in, the pinch rollers old belt and voltage on tension wheels are all good. Pinch rollers even spring up and down like new , I do however feel the need to do the normal prevention maintenance. Thanks to you and my electronics background should not be a issue. I do have a problem though the unit plays 1 thing in 1 speaker and the other plays something else if I reverse the play same thing just flips speakers, also the tape lift does not engage the tape what do I need to look for to fix that playback issue
