Hola saludos desde cuba tengo un problema con una AKAI 630 que los motores de los reels se calientan tanto al punto de que no se pueden tocar es normal o es una falla de ser así pudiera orientarme para solucionar la falla saludos y gracias de antemano
Hi Matt, I am coming to NC very soon and would like to come by and see your shop. I don't know if you allow customers come to your shop or if you just do online sales. I am looking for a really good Teac X2000R or a X1000R. I had them when I was in the Army when I was stationed in Germany, and now I am kicking myself in the butt for getting rid of it. Please let me know if I can come by or how I can buy the Teac. Thanks
Hi Rodney, You're welcome to come by. Email me at [email protected] and we'll work out the details.
Thanks for the solution
Perfect!!!!
Great Video Bigg Matt!!! Love those Teac/Tascams!!! You're the one with the touch brother!!!
Hi Big Matt, thanks for the insights! I've got an issue with my R8 which I haven't been able to snuff out where the machine has periods where it stops (when in play/rec mode) after about a second. Other times it'll run just fine though. It looks to be something in the circuitry of the time sensor that makes it think it should stop. When I block the LED from the sensor so it doesn't count time (and so the counter stays at 0 when playing), it doesn't do this. I've tried resoldering some bits and spraying Deoxit but to no avail, I guess because I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly where the issue is coming from. Any chance you've come across this before and you know how to go about fixing it? Many thanks.
Hi Durk, I'm not familiar with this problematic on an R8, 7 it sounds like you're on the right path. Maybe clean the inside of of the roller that covers the strobe light you mentioned. I'll do some more digging.
Nice video, Franz is the Man 👍

Sounding Good 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Hey Bigg Matt, just found your video here. I own this tape deck, and it was in storage for 14 years. I dragged it home, (because I needed it all of a sudden), and the only thing I had to do to it, was replace the belts. That was it, and it works great. I saw all those reel decks in the background in your video. Now, I'll have too look to see what you have for sale. I am not opposed to driving to Charlotte for a pick-up. (Although, the traffic there is a nightmare). LOL
Not sure you'll ever see this Matt, but thank you for what you do!!! This is my all time favorite reel to reel deck!!!
Thanks for this video, just bought the Teac X3 .
That’s some good information on the pioneer RT -707
Nice Jeff Lorber track
Thanks brother Matt, for another valuable knowledge nugget. 💪🏾
Id like a video review how to change the belt counter of the RT-707. Greetings
I was hoping for a longer video😊. Nice to learn something new with each of your videos. TY!!

Hi ! Akai GX-747 powers on but does nothing else. Only the vu-meters backlight bulbs light on; the counter is dead and so are all other LEDs; all buttons are non-operational. Tested all power supplies and GND traces to all boards and ICs, especially the 2 microprocessors, IC1 and IC2. Tested the 2 test points TP1 and TP2 for the 400 KHz clock signal and… when the oscilloscope probe touches the TP, the counter lights on and the transport buttons start to work, but only randomly. The measured CLK frequency is about double that it should be (adjustable between 820-1200 KHz). I kinda hit the wall here; if anyone has advanced experience around these microprocessors, I would appreciate any suggestion. Thank you
Are the fuses ok?
@@5thcomm yes all ok
@@5thcomm all ok
@@mohamedsaeid2481 If you have thr schematic, trace the power starting at the main fuse.
@@5thcomm I did that, my friend. All the power sources are fine, up to IC 1&2, but the problem is with the high frequency. This is a very confusing problem, even though GND is all fine. Thank you very much for your interest.
Hello From CLE Any vid on tension roller adjustment on 388?
