The Churchill also had a number of unarmed or specialised variants that weren't intended for combat as a primary role. There was a variant where it was basically a fold-out bridge on tracks. It'd drive into a trench or shallow river (or simply straddle it with its long trench-crossing hull) and then fold out its bridge so that other tanks could more quickly and easily follow. Collectively (along with the AVRE, Crocodile and several equally specialised Sherman variants) these tanks were known as Hobart's Funnies and were all designed and built specifically for the D-Day landings and the following breakout actions.

Historically speaking, the Mk IV and VI are identical, VI were given 75mm guns in the factory. Mk IVs were upgraded with 75mm guns in theatre both with improvised(NA75) and official mounts(which make them indisguishable to the Mk VI. There is also the Mk V which is the same tank but with the 94mm Close Support howitzer. After experience in Tunisia some MKIV/V/VI hulls would recieve about 2cm of applique armour to their sides bringing the side armour up from 76mm to 95mm. I'd love to see Bushmills on the tabletop, Bushmills is a Churchill Mk1 from the North Irish Horse, which saw service in Tunisia and Italy(being upgraded with applique armour after the Tunisian campaign). The vehicle was armed with a 3 inch howitzer in the turret and another in the hull.

The double HE radius means more than double area as pi * R squared meaning 4 times area

Sorry, can't help myself. The Matilda was an excellent tank that was built as two types before the war. Their armour was a serious problem for the Germans as they found out at Arras. The real problem for the Matilda was the turret ring was too small to allow an upgrade to the 6pdr gun. However, even after the desert war, they were sent to the Far East where they still outclassed Japanese armour. You actually saw a number of tanks in the Far East that had fought to mid war in the desert and early war Europe. Another fun model was the Grant. Solid armour and lots of punch with both guns as far as the Japanese were concerned. I think that sometimes people think the USA was the only one fighting the Japanese. In fact the Japanese began their invasion of Malaya before Pearl Harbour.

Differences between mk3 and mk4 Churchill were purely in the turret and interior stowage. The mk3 turret was welded, whike the mk4 turret was cast because it was faster and cheaper to produce, but the two types operated side by side in most theatres.

@Mordian Glory love the Churchill tank in game, one of the ways I mitigate the movement problems is to just leave it road bound and change the strategy around it. Also Another favorite tank I bring to games is the type 3 Ka-Chi medium Amphibious tank because of how ridiculously big it is, wondered if you had a favorite meme vehicle that you like to have in your games as well.

Own one and yes the thing is taller than a KV-2 and longer than a King Tiger/Jagdtiger minus the main gun if you line them up from front tracks to rear/ side by side.. Mine would be the KV-8 as no one likes it as you just can not stop it unless you somehow have a heavy AT gun or higher and so punch through that DV-10 all the way around. Or you hit with a few HEshots and put +5 or more pins on it to shut it down.

Churchill was my first tank for Bolt Action and I went big with the Churchill VII. Is it very very expensive for not that much beyond a large box with a gun two classes smaller than it but I love that thing and I've done surprisingly well with it. Must have been lucky 😂

Also Churchill is a slow tank so hence why the points are nearly in half of what a comparable Soviet or German heavy/super heavy tank. Hard to get it in the fight when you can only travel as fast as an infantry unit at 6" advance and 12" run.

I understand that it might be a balance thing but something that irks me is the blast template stuff. Fire an explosive at someone, roll to hit and miss, and suddenly it just vanishes into thin air

How do you know which gun is the 75mm and the 6pdr? At the moment I am seeing the 6pdr as the one with the muzzle break and the 75 mm as the smooth barrel end like on Shermans.

Should be the other way round. British 75mm guns had the muzzle brake but the 6pdr 57mm gun didn't

Is it a Warlord/Italeri , a Rubicon, or another brand? But if it is Rubicon you might want to send an E mail about it as I had to do this as my Ford GPA/ SEEP didn't come with a headlight and so they sent me a replacement free of charge.
