Great footage , those decisions we make , when not thinking straight can impact in a big, way great advice for young hunters. Better to be looking at it than looking for it. Keep the clips coming, love it.

11:56 Yes with helicopter it neets a Lot experians, I did ground school in Bell 47 in US but never fly commercial.

@@TasmanDenize Thanks, Yea, just get a permit for the drone., Iv had a couple of people try n nark me off to doc about drone flying in the bush on my vids, but its no worries if you have a permit for the drone, doc and I happy,, narks not .lol.

Thanks for the story. I was wondering what was in the pack. I have heard enough experiences of guys getting caught out in the bush and though I haven't, I have been in situations where I found myself totally not where I thought I was, so I tend to over pack just to be safe. Really appreciate your experience. Keep up the good work.

Great vid and good chat at the end there! Yeap better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it! Have often been tempted to lighten my gear up, even for day hunts. In the end, no deer is worth an uncomfortable or fatal night out in the bush! I reakon those little emergency bags and a dry base layer is pretty cheap life insurance and doesnt cost much more than a few extra drops of sweat on the hill!

Good to share these stories as we tend to think it happens to everyone else and she'll be right but like you it happened to me on Stewart Island 50yrs ago lost for a couple of nights fortunately though raining and shivering fiercely I had shot a hind her skin helped save me from hypothermia.

Bro awesome footage. I think what you'll find is it's the inexperienced that are asking those questions and they'll either listen to what you have to say or learn the hard way like most of us have. I will always hunt with at least a day bag containing everything you mentioned, something warm to change into, a good wet weather jacket, high energy snacks and brew kit to keep me warm just in case I get caught out and have an accident. For the extra bit of weight, it's totally worth it especially for anyone that may be waiting for you at home. Good korero bro.

Mean as Fred,the old popped lung is something else,I twisted the nut sack just up past stag flat,a big injury definitely changes the technique in the bush,keep going hard mate and keep the plb close

@nzmeateater climbing up outa the creek on way to wihatua,found the old beanch track later on,I threw my pack up on rocks jumped up and tried to slip up on puku,two days later I couldn't walk,chopper too tauranga surgery then new man,would of been pretty bad without plb

@@jakegollan502 Yea for sure, plbs are a must, I never had one with my incident, not sure if they were around then?? ,Was just lucky my brother was hunting with boss and reminded him to drop in and check if I had any animals.

You have to be pushed to your limit, to realize your boundaries. Been there done that. I don't criticise other people, who have been through it and are still doing it. Easy to do that on a keyboard. Reality TV has a lot to answer to with criticising people's effort from a couch
