I believe us as māori people are missing that connection to our land. (If you don't live in Aotearua) I've been in Aus for the majority of my life, but this past year I've decided I want to learn more about my culture. I joined a kapa haka group & it was the best decision I've made. I love singing with the bros & the hakas... especially the hakas. Just so much mana in our culture that not everyone gets to experience. I am blessed to be māori & love every secomd of it.

So very true my niece, and his 3 sons singing the solo part, look and sound trueiy like my bro bub...😪
All our history, our heroes our chiefs our warriors and battles was and still is passed down through waiata (songs and chants, Haka and school of learning. We understand the amplification of using certain hill forms and structures to carry our voices and the distance sound could travel at night and early morning, we were definitely one with our environment.

My hubby passed away in a nursing home, as he was being wheeled out by the undertaker the manager of the establishment asked if he could sing a waiata as it was quite a walk to the front door where the hurst was parked. The manager is Phillipino and was doing a reo course & asked to sing this song following behind. Of course I said as I hadn't heard this song until this day I now listen to it at least once a day perfectly performed.
Awesome waiata! Youse all look and sound DA BOMB! Luv it hard out!
