Well done. As you say, your return was 'baptism by fire'. You did it! Now you're set for the rest of the Tararua Range. When you got to your final Hut, I was trying to quickly count the shoes as you passed. Looked a few. At least you were able to get a place in the Hut. A wonderful return. Now I can walk off my Christmas and New Year fare. Cheers 🎉

That first night was pretty full but still room for about 7 more and then there was plenty of room in the common room. We’ve almost worked off that tiramisu 😂

Ello ello, seriously loving this part of the adventure in the rugged New Zealand hills its a dangerous but beautiful place.. Ive been watching a couple do the Appalachian trail and been over their theres waay colder temperatures and snow etc the shelters or huts arent very good compared to our ones In New Zealand. I bet a few days to get back into the swing of thing's after all the Christmas feasting and comforts. Stay blessed

The AT shelters only have 3 walls and are mostly just floor space to sleep on. We definitely have it good here in NZ with the huts!!

@@freedom_on_the_trail + I noticed that and the couple Im watching hiked all through winter an have just passed the 1700km mark, we definitely are lucky here.

DO you live here in NZ or did you fly back to the states for your break?
