I just played Xenoshyft . It's fun. The components are cheap.

I had my issues with it.

I agree with Cody on this one as well. I backed the kickstarter so I got a bit more stuff to break up the vanilla felling a bit. I think the biggest problem I have is how long it takes to finish a complete game, was going to try to cut out one turn each wave to see if it works.

Been looking into getting this game as well as legendary encounters. Although this will be my next purchase. I have to disagree about the combat being to deterministic and mathematical. It's very similar to lotr lcg combat which is only the best card game ever designed so I don't see it as a problem. Great review !

I'm getting a little tired of this strict co-op base defense formula. It's becoming archaic. There's gotta be an ongoing story or progressive adventure with a variety of objectives (as in Legendary Encounters) to catch my interest nowadays. Campaigns are great, too. Some styles of games almost feel incomplete now without an option that provides some sort of persistence or continuation between plays.

Another game which has the same buy mechanic is Shadowrun Crossfire, though the buy phase is after the playing phase, you do bring the purchased cards into your hand directly rather than everything going to discard. Shadowrun came out first, XenoShyyyyft is be copying!! Derivative!
