I love him and his Orchestra (not band, but Orchestra). Rest in Peace You and your Orchestra. But forever we remember, You LIVE !!!
Bravissimi.
Russian, Tchaikovsky, Lt.Gen Khalilov. What else can go wrong? Enjoyable performance!
Rest in peace dear comrades. Conductor and musicians best of the best sad loss four years ago. Your magnificent will be your legacy. Privilege to be able to hear this rendition. 😪
¡ Muchas gracias!!!
A gigantic band... The atmosphere on site must have been electrifying !!!
This version is with chorus singing "God save the Tsar" anthem in the ending like it was composed by Tchaikovsky. Very nice

Outstanding. Great to hear it done by a Russian military band and chorus. Thanks for posting.
The place is Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg.
So sad the loss on Christmas Day. One of greatest conductors.
The orchestra drowned out the real fire! I love that they had 2 military bands up above the orchestra. I read once that the premier of the piece was for the inauguration of a cathedral. There were 2 military bands: one dressed in Russian uniforms and one in captured French uniforms. The bells of the cathedral rang for the first time, and the cannons used in battle shot out. This is a great version. One rarely hears it with the full choir part.
Bravo👌🔝 Herzliche Grüsse aus Österreich
Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I appreciate the addition of the chorus. The mournful opening and final triumph are enhanced profoundly by human voices. The fact that this is performed in Leningrad adds to the historical associations - not that Leningrad (St. Petersburg) was the object of Napoleon's invasion, but that it has not been all that long since WWII brought this western city under severe attack and prolonged siege. This is hallowed ground.

I miss you,Valery Khalilov May Valery Khalilov rest in peace.
Only the Russia military bands can play the overture with such relevance. A nation that has repelled invasions time and again for several hundred years. The confidence that was nurtured by the ups and downs, and eventual success through sacrifice together as a nation.

Such beautiful voices and music. Fills my heart ❤️
The first performance, given under Ippolit Altani on August 8, 1882, at the Arts and Industry Exhibition had in the report of the performance , Tchaikovsky saying one sentence to the audiece; 'In memory of 1812' he then walked off the stage and sat to watch the performance. The overture starts with the lower strings intoning the Russian Orthodox chant ‘Spasi, Gospodi, lyudi Tvoya’ (‘God, Preserve Thy People’). Later on, Tchaikovsky cites a sprightly Russian folk tune, ‘U vorot’ (‘By the Gates’). These are clear indicators of Russianness, uniting the country’s timeless religious traditions with the joys of the simple, sunny life before Napoleon and his troops sent things to hell. Hymn at the beginning (God Preserve Thy People)
Thrilling, just thrilling ❤️

This version performed by actual Russians is great...with one personal preference caveat...I do wish actual cannons could have been utilized for the finale.
