Nice list! Pandemic The Cure, the other dice based Pandmic is also very good, I love how quick it is to setup, play and reset. Rajas of the Ganges, Troyes, Fantastic Factories, Dice Miner, Dice Throne, Bandada and Brew are some more dicey favorites. Zombie Dice and Strike are also a lot of fun when we want something really light.

I just bought Brew two days ago and have yet to get it to the table. I'm already charmed by it reading through the rules, so a 2023 update to this list may have at least one new edition, but only time will tell. Thanks for watching!

I first thought of Roll for the Galaxy and Marco Polo II when I saw your video, but one that's on my list that I'd mention is Las Vegas. It's so quick and it's light, chaotic fun that surpasses King of Tokyo for me. I think they scratch the same itch.

Great list! I'm a fan of several of these. Tiny Epic Galaxies, Dice Throne, Fish or Cut Bait, and Sushi Roll would be some of my additions to this list. Others I really want to try are Long Shot the Dice Game, Fleet the Dice Game, and Rajas of the Ganges. Are you looking forward to Dice Realms at all? That looks like it might scratch that Dice Forge itch you were talking about.

Bravo. I just found your channel for Ahoy, I liked your style and so I quickly got attracted by this video too. I agree with your list and I personally like so much Marco Polo 2 (2!) Congratulations for mentioning QUANTUM because it's a really pity it does not get reprinted (in my country as well... :-( ). Almost surprising because it has so many aspects that would make it so good to be reprinted in the current global scenario where minis and chits and meeples and long rulebooks raise so much the price of new games!

I like Dice Realms with dice crafting where you are upgrading the faces and specialising your dice. Board Game Geek provides a solo and a co-operative mode by the designer. An expansion is coming up. There is a lot of variability and it is very carefully thought out, though not cheap but you get lots of components. People liken it to Dominion.

Yeah I need to find my way to Dice Realms. I liked the concept of customizing dice faces with Dice Forge but it didn't quite take it to the level I wanted.

my favorite dice game is Knucklebones from Cult of the Lamb. it's a minigame within the video game, but it's so fun that the admins of the official discord server for the developers of the game made a bot that you can use to either play Knucklebones with other people in the server or even against the bot itself. i'm hoping they decide to sell their own game set so people can play it with friends irl. :-)

I came here trying to remember what Elder Sign was called! A lot of other dice game videos have not included it in any kind of ranked list. Such a fun one.

Nice list! XCOM and Project Elite would probably be on my list due to the sheer fun of them. I dont know if theyre dice usage is the most innovative, but theyre definitely putting dice at the forefront, i havent seen anyone do the push-your-luck aspect as well as XCOM does, and i like in Project Elite how you can require other players to work with you to fix your dice and the sheer frantic nature of it. I definitely need to check some of these ones you mentioned that i havent played yet! Im excited for chucking some dice in 2024 now!

There's a couple I haven't heard of. I house ruled Bang! The Dice game to a literal 1-2 player fast-paced shootout style game. I also did something similar to Deadwood 1876 which uses cool wooden dice and cards. The custom shootout pips come off so I'm going to put Minwax Polycrylic clear matte on them which could probably work for all wooden dice. Other games I have that use a dice mechanic are Wreck Raiders (I bought Stack Attack on sale to replace the yellow dice with more colorful dice), and Queen Games High Tide and Tortuga (needs the designer rules on BGG). Dracarys Dice has no strategy but is a fun quick roller that can be played solo. Zombies! Roll Them Bones is fun but swingy. Hit Z Road and Remnants aren't really dice games per se but have interesting mechanics). Others I have are Rock 'em Sock 'em (Robot) dice and Tootsie Roll. Coralia is a dice placement game I don't have but has translucent dice like Sagrada. Herbaceous Sprouts is a dice placement game that uses Chucky dice like Star Wars Destiny.

Dice based is tough for me. I have a lot that have a little “roll to resolve” but don’t feel like dice games. More pure dice - Pandemic the Cure is my top. Nautilion and Aerion are both nice small games, and the dice real time co-ops are great as well (rapid response is also my favorite)

I agree with a few other commenters that said Dice Throne, and maybe to a lesser extent, Ashes Rise of the Phoenixborn. Though it's moreso a card battling game, I love the idea of dice rolling as the traditional "mana" system similar to Magic or other card battlers.

You convinced me to finally buy Rapid Response. Amazon had it for $16. I love real time games but I always assumed with a 6.6 rating on BGG that it was sub par. But looking at the comments I think it’s just because most people don’t like real time games in general.

One of my all-time favorite games is Dice Masters. Of course, the new stuff isn't as good as the older stuff, but unless you're playing tournaments, who cares? Also, Star Wars Destiny which, in some ways, I like even better than DM. Both are customizable games, though, so it's difficult finding opponents who are into the game as much as you are and have built there own teams.

If the primary method of interacting with the game, or the major decisions are based on rolling and manipulating dice, yes I’d call it a dice game. The thing is that I’ve largely moved to Flip n Writes so I didn’t include any R&R on the list. There are some great ones, though!

Wait, no Dragon Dice from SFR? Tragic! I would've added Dice Throne as an easy to teach game that does what it sets out to do -- be a battle Yahtzee / M:tG hybrid -- with visual and gameplay panache.

I knew someone would have called me on it and truthfully I should have put it in honorable mentions, but I think that this is conceptually more of a dice-based boardgames type of list whereas Dragon Dice is it's own thing. That's kind of a week technicality, but it's what I got.

Dragon Dice is a big omission, especially considering I’ve covered it a ton on this channel, but I intentionally excluded collectible games like DD and Marvel Dice Masters. I should have been more clear about that in the preamble.

The top 10 dice games of all time. That title is a joke considering I think you made it to before 2000. Go back to 1985 TSR game "Chase". A pure strategy game with no luck and as challenging as Chess to play.

I get where you are coming from but I just did not have a good experience with the game. The gameplay, the aesthetic, the leveling up, just did not have a good time in spite of on paper really seeming like it'd be up my alley. Because of the huge popularity of the game I'll definitely give it another try sometime, maybe it'll click more, but as it stands it didn't rate. I'm glad you love it though!
