Tbilisi, Georgia - Police intervened against protesters surrounding the parliament building

In Georgia, security forces intervened with tear gas and water cannons against the demonstrators who tried to block the parliament building while protesting against the draft law on "transparency of foreign influence".
In the Georgian capital Tbilisi, demonstrations against the draft law on "transparency of foreign influence" submitted by the government to the parliament continue.
Demonstrators gathered on Shota Rustaveli Street in Tbilisi at night and tried to block the entrances of the building to prevent the parliamentary deputies of the ruling Georgian Dream Party from leaving the building.
Security forces warned the demonstrators to move away from the entrance doors of the building. When the demonstrators did not disperse, police special forces intervened with tear gas and water cannons.

What democracy are you talking about, haven’t you seen the western democracies in Europe and the USA? Democracy is nothing but a joke you all seen what they did to peaceful UNI students demanding to stop the war in Gaza. Don’t fall for this nonsense lies called democracy. Look after your country and don’t let outsiders destroy your country like they did around the world.

i get it................The people of Georgia, not to be confused with the U.S. state of Georgia, are currently protesting against a proposed bill known as the “On transparency of foreign influence.” Let me provide some context on this issue: Background: On April 15, 2024, the Georgian government’s Legal Committee endorsed the controversial bill “On transparency of foreign influence.” This legislation compels civil society organizations with foreign funding to register as “organizations carrying out in the interests of a foreign power.” The bill is similar to last year’s widely contested and ultimately withdrawn “foreign agents” bill1. Critics argue that this bill could undermine Georgia’s EU accession ambitions by targeting civil society organizations and independent media, smearing them as “foreign agents” in a way that delegitimizes their work and restricts their parliamentary access. Protests and Concerns: Widespread peaceful protests erupted in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, with demonstrators waving Georgian and EU flags. The police response escalated quickly, resulting in detentions and reported injuries. Local civil society organizations have raised concerns over government officials threatening public servants and others to prevent them from speaking against the bill1. Comparison to Russia’s Legislation: The proposed Georgian legislation is modeled after Russia’s infamous and highly repressive “foreign agents” law. Similar legislation has been considered by countries across the post-Soviet region, including Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia1. Foreign Influence Transparency Act (H.R.1535): It’s important to note that H.R.1535 is a U.S. federal bill, not related to Georgia. H.R.1535 addresses foreign influence in higher education and certain other academic, religious, and artistic pursuits. The bill exempts from foreign agent registration requirements those engaging in activities related to religious, scholastic, academic, or scientific pursuits or the fine arts2. In summary, the people of Georgia are protesting against the “On transparency of foreign influence” bill due to concerns about its impact on civil society, freedom of expression, and Georgia’s international standing. The situation remains tense, and the bill’s implications continue to be a point of contention in Georgian societ

Georgians in Georgia ( Caucasus) , Etruscans, Sardinians in Italy (Etruscans, who, along with others also lived on the territory of the kingdom of Kolkhida in the western part of Georgia by the Black Sea), Corsicans in Corsica, Picts in Britain, Spanish Iberians in Spain and other European people have same ethno, ethnic origin, Georgians are related to those peoples of Europe who have both Iberian and Celtic ethnic origins. Also, so for centuries and millennia between the ancestors of the Georgians and the Romans, after the Eastern Romans, there were closely mixed ethno-cultural relations, which also accordingly affected the genetic level of the peoples of the Georgians and Italians (Also, the ancestors of the Georgians lived not only in the territory of Georgia, but also in other parts of Europe, South-East Europe, also, the ancestors of the Georgians, along with other peoples of the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions, are also one of the creators of the Mediterranean civilization in those ancient historical times and so on. ), which is proved by history, respectively life itself, proved at the level of genetics (proved genealogically in different periods of time, including the director of the Zurich Genealogical Center R. Scholz), archeology, cultures, culture and so on., accordingly proven by life itself, and this is why all these listed peoples ( together with originality of each of these ethno, ethnic peoples) have similarities, identical in different forms of culture, in folk music, dance, in ancient architectural style and so on. Georgian cultures/culture of different historical times (including modern times) are European ( together with their own culture/ cultures, influences with different European cultures, beginning from ancient times, influences with ancient Greek civilizations, cultures, with Roman cultures, later with East Roman/Byzantine culture, with Catholic Europe and other European cultures during all historical periods in history of Georgians, Georgia, subsequently, among other European cultures, having the closest relationship also with Russian culture) and so on. Therefore, based on everything noted, the European path of Georgians, Georgia, is historically a fair path.
