But for so long we as gay people it had to pretend to be straight, it's nice to be able to actually have gay storylines. And then having a straight actor play a gay character is like hiring a white person to play a black person. To me, even though Tom Hanks has an amazing actor, it would be wrong to have him play Martin Luther King jr. The same is true as if we had Denzel Washington play Benjamin Franklin. It just wouldn't be proper. The same thing, to me, is it is.

him not coming out isn’t betraying anyone, because he doesn’t owe us the details of his personal life in the first place. i also disagree as a queer person because of one thing: ITS ACTING. any actor can play a character of any, and the fact that taylor played the role well should be the only thing that matters. if a straight actor makes his character a complete stereotype, then that’s actually harmful and wrong. but what if an actor thought they were queer while they played a gay character but then later realized they’re actually straight?

It's nobody's business but Taylor's. Even if he is an excellent actor, that doesn't mean that the public gets to "own him", i.e., invade his personal life. I would love to see a sequel to Red White and Royal Blue- but please leave Taylor's personal life out of it.

Being publicly gay or whatever one identifies as, is personal and about choice most of the time. Alex's speech says it best, 'The truth is, every queer person has the right to come out on their own terms and on their own timeline. They also have the right to choose not to come out at all'. I've always been offended by the term 'breeder' we are all people and should respect the views and anatomical human structure whether we live that life or not. Idealistic I know, oh for a perfect world! Even a "gay young man" like you could breed btw, if medically able and you wanted to. We all know of queer people who have passed their genes to their children and live in a loving family environment. If all actors were categorised by their sexual prefences we'd miss out on some superb performances, not to forget that if openly gay, and gay roles were all they could perform there would be some very financially poor actors given the percentage of available gay roles. Given how well Taylor and Nicholas played their roles it's obvious that after a thorough selection process they were best suited for their roles. Who knows if there were queer applicants or how many? I 100% disagree with speaking as a gay young man. If you a man are openly in the role of a queer male than you should have no issue stating your sexuality. Of which should only be Homosexual, Bisexual, pansexual, etc. and not at all heterosexual. If weren’t for the existence of a hypocritical society, not only actors, but anyone should be able to be themselves without any issues and not have to lie about their sexual orientation. We don't know he is gay. There is all this speculation because people just want drama and to pressure people for their own entertainment. This is fucking Kit Connor all over again. Oh he has to be straight and making people 'assume' he's gay OR gay and is 'pretending' to be straight. It's fucking ridiculous. They have the right to come out on their own terns and on their own timeline. And they have the right not to come out at all! He literally says this in the movie!

@@Pride-zl2ew wow there are so many things wrong with that comment... first it's not about their sexuality it's about whether or not they are suited personality wise to play those characters.. they see a lot of people audition for the roles before they pick their final actors, maybe queer actors auditioned but wasn't suited personality wise for the roles. second calling someone a breeder is a form of verbal bullying just because he's possibly straight, you need to show some respect to others. and third not everyone HAS to come out just because they are playing a certain character, if he is queer and he's not ready for the world to know then that's his business not ours.... you seem to have a lot of anger built up and you are just throwing it around.... you want allyship but when it's given you reject it and then make nasty comments like this.... just from reading your comment you seem like a bad person with problems and you should keep your negativity to yourself.

I do not understand gay people criticizing the movie for casting straight men in the role. This is an insane concept. If Hollywood only cast gay people in gay roles then I'm sorry, but they would also have the right to cast only straight people in straight roles. This would mean that about 98% of all roles in movies would not be available for gay people to play. Actors are actors and should be able to play any role as long as they are the right person for the role and these two did a magnificent job no matter what their sexuality is. Just like love is love and the conversation about who is gay and who is straight should not even be a discussion. We all have a morbid curiosity about who actors are dating and or sleeping with, but the whole gay or straight thing is just a moot point as far as I am concerned.

It wasn't even a secret before TKB. I remember Taylor having tons of pictures of them together on IG but took them down or archived them a after the trailer dropped. Back when he used his lastname and wore his wedding ring either in his finger or as a necklace. I remember thinking they broke up😢 but apparently it was more of a career move? I would assume? I had no idea who Taylor was until RW&RB, yes him and Nicholas had wonderful chemistry, but before the film even started Taylor and nick met few weeks earlier to rehearse and too become fast friends with each other, they trusted each other and formed a beautiful bond and respected for each other. I heard this rumors before in Twitter. I was shocked too at first but it's not right to make contents about people's sexuality. The caption is misleading implying he did something wrong.

So what if he’s gay. I loved his movie and I hope this drama doesn’t affect them.

1. I don't mind a straight guy playing a gay role just as much as I would mind a gay guy playing a straight role. If an actor is good, he can play a transman, a person with special needs, or of another ethnicity (if he gives a good performance and provided actors/directors/producers of that ethnicity are involved) as long as they give the role justice. 2. Alex's speech, which I already find in the comments, are exactly what runs in my mind hearing all these speculations... I love both their portrayals.

@di_The_killadi Some gays are real hateful and misogynistic towards women and it's funny to watch their envious loathing. They don't realise they are telling on themselves just how jealous they are because the vast majority of men on planet earth(especially masculine men) are straight and mad about women and not them. I have a friend who used to workin a gay bar and they told me that a lot of gay men were fuming by the attention a beautiful woman got even in a gay bar. It really got to them. I have picked up on it from a lot of gay man ever since, and trust me a lot of them are like it...they should be thankful there is men who want to have sex with women or they wouldn't be here alive today.

Whoever spread this story clearly did not see the movie. 🙄

I don't feel great giving views to a video that uses scenes from the film by "flipping" or mirroring, which suggests they don't have permission from the production to use the footage. Furthermore, using the pilfered footage to discuss a cast member's orientation, which is in poor taste.

Why is it that so many people demand to know (or believe what they think they know) so much about the actors in a fictional story. They are drawn to the characters in the story, but in their minds they see the images of the actors who portray the characters. Somehow they assume some kind of ownership of who the actor is, when they actually know only bits and pieces of knowledge (some true, some false). People like that need to relax and let go of such tendencies and just enjoy fine portrayals of the actors in telling great stories. The actors are real people who have private lives that don't need your demanding claims.
