Forever Winter is believed to be about her friend Jeff Lang who committed su1c1de...she accepted an award for songwriting in 2010 and while accepting it she said something like: This was a very emotional week, I put out Speak Now this week and the fact that it might mean something to somebody really means a lot to me and that was a very happy moment this week, and yesterday I sang at a funeral of one of my best friends, he was 21 and I always used to play him my songs first so I would like to thank Jeff lang.

I feel like Nothing New can be about a lot of things. I think for Taylor, she’s always talking about how women constantly have to change in the music industry because they get tired of you once you become a certain age. I also think it’s a relatable song because anyone can apply it to their own life. The line “It’s like I can feel time moving.” is so true because growing up is such a scary thing.

Yes, she talked about this song and that she wrote it after her huge success with Fearless and her feeling like people were less and less excited for her and her music as time went on (at that time) and how she was scared her carreer was going down. It was a great interview on Seth Mayers show in nov 2021.

I am thoroughly enjoying your journey through the discography, and I really appreciate you being so thorough. You owe it to yourself to watch Taylor sing "Better Man" live at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville (notably, right in front of Scott Borchetta, who would ultimately sell her catalog to douchebag Braun). Even if you don't do a reaction video. It's sooooo good.

The best live performance of the Red era is naturally the rock version of WANEGBT. HOWEVER, the funniest is the WANEGBT performance where Ed Sheeran suprised her dressed as a clown pretending to be one of her back up dancers. AND the most unhinged live performance was when between the US and international legs of the Red Tour Fall Out Boy opened the 2013 Victoria Secrets Fashion show, and she turned up half way through singing My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark while walking the catwalk dressed as a Union Jack flag 😂

Taylor is never gonna stop being an artist lol I'll tell you that much. She may have the fantasy of the lakes but she's been very vocal about how the stage is her home, how songwriting is a tool that gets her through life, as well as performing her music. As much as there's huge drawbacks to the spotlight, she'll keep going

A more trimmed down version maybe, but it had too many dips. Starlight, the lucky one etc really drag out the back end and take away from the core story of the album. I'm not saying I don't like them but why are they on the main album when it's supposed to be her one true breakup album? You could replace them with some bonus tracks even and that would still be better.

The way I describe the experience of “Forever Winter” (as someone who has been on both sides of that experience) is basically that Taylor very gently reaches between my ribs to cradle my heart and LOOK right into it. Reading my old hurts like a diary. And the song just holds me up while I break down. I’ve never had any lyrics hit me quite the way, “If I was standing there in your apartment/I’d take that bomb in your head and disarm it,” hits me. But when I share it with people it never hits them the way it hits me. Sigh. ANYWAY. The thing about “The Very First Night” for me is that she keeps ending lines with er and then rhyming it with ‘miss you’. And I can’t tell if it’s because it originally said ‘miss HER’ or because her accent used to rhyme er and ya back then. But it’s so consistent that I can’t stop wondering about it… Also, the song annoyed me on first listen but grew on me more and more every time I heard it…
