This song is about scott brochetta taylor’s first record label owner of big machine. He was like a father figure for her but when taylor said after reputation she wants to buy her own masters when the contract expires he gave her an absurb deal and sold it to scooter brain who everyone knew that he hates taylor and had been trying to ruin her career since the start.

Glad you’re still enjoying Taylor. Good guess on Scooter. 😊 She’s actually talking about Scott Borschetta (sp?). He was her record label owner. He was with Taylor since the beginning of her career and she thought of him as a second father. Scott sold her masters to Scooter- who Taylor always hated. That was a large part of the reason she felt so betrayed when the masters were sold to him.

I think the “jewels” are her platinum and gold records. 💭 And her “stolen lullabies” are her masters that he wouldn’t let her purchase. She didn’t go with grace be she remade the albums into “Taylor’s Versions” that are only being purchased by the fans who know what he did to her. Just my two cents on it… 😉

An old lady new to Taylor Swift - I'm a lifelong Chiefs fan! I don't know much about her past but learning more every time I listen to these reactions. And yes, I would agree that it's about Scooter..."stolen lullabies"...and kudos to Taylor for everything she does.

It’s more about Scott Borchetta that sold the masters to scooter so you’re not totally wrong! Taylor and Scott were close for 15 years and were basically like family so it was a huge betrayal. Scooter has always been an issue with Taylor so it was even more of a slap in the face

I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned the lyrics themselves, I know they’ve mentioned who it’s about. The lyrics are callbacks to the stolen albums themselves. She had six stolen albums. “I didn’t have it in my self to go with grace” - State of Grace from Red Album “And you’re the hero flying around saving face” is from Superman on her Speak Now Album. “And if I’m dead to you why are you at the wake?” Is from Look What You Made Me Do from reputation. “Cursing my name” - Always and Forever from Fearless “Wishing I’ll Stay” - I wish you would/All you had to do was stay from 1989 “Look at how my tears ricochet” from Teardrops on my Guitar from Taylor Swift (Debut Album) Last but not least: when she says “you wear the same jewels that I gave you as you buried me” references the fact that the six albums she had went platinum, silver and gold! I'm really not trying to be mean - but Did you actually watch/listen to the video? 90% of this video is his interpretations of the lyrics..... I'm not sure if you made that comment so you could show everyone your vast TS knowledge or what... and that's fine - but it's pretty obvious you didn't watch/listen after the first 2 minutes..... and I'm not trying to be mean or snotty - really - because you aren't nasty at all ... you just made a comment that is 100% off base ... 3:30 and 4:32 5:31 and 7:09 and 8:16 ...well actually the entire video is him doing exactly that!

The jewels she gave Scott Borchetta were her albums that went gold, platinum, and diamond. And of course, her stolen lullabies were her first 6 albums that got sold out from under her. Scott did offer Taylor that for every new album she made she would receive one old one back, tying her to him for quite a while.

I never realized in this section that she says this song is about “Karma” and greed before!!! That’s SO fitting!!! Both My Tears Ricochet AND Karma are about Scott Borchetta!! 🤯👏🙌🫶 She was saying that the situation is like a divorce, what was good, pure, and beautiful in the beginning turned into a literal nightmare relationship. Even if it’s a metaphorical divorce, it’s still the same type of grieving like how a marriage/divorce feels. You can see every ounce of pain even singing this was nothing she ever expected or wanted to happen. She had been with Scott Borchetta since she was 16, almost half her life. She truly loved him & has said that she thought of him like a 2nd father. 💔🥺💔

Joe isn’t saying anything tho? British tabloids are notoriously shitty, man. If it’s not coming from him, just from “sources,” you can safely discount it. He’s being as low-key as he’s ever been, and it’s hardly his fault his name is gonna get dragged out and he’s gonna be talked about thanks to the new album. He hasn’t said a word that can be actually be verified, though it is easy to imagine how he may be feeling about April. But he’s NEVER been one to put any business out there.
