More people need to keep this in mind. The best and longer relationships come out of understanding and companionship rather than just “You look hot, I want you” kind of mindset.

Everyone saying it's about the friendzone or actual friendship, but they're missing the lyrics about church bells and rice on the ground---a wedding. As someone else in the comments pointed out, it's about the importance of friendship in romance. Or a friendship that blossoms into a romance. Although art can be interpreted in anyway, it has to be done in a way that can be gleaned by what's given.

I still don't understand all the hate for this song. You know, sometimes when I really like something I write a guided meditation inspired by it. I love Taylor so it was natural to me to write an 'eras inspired meditation' and this song was the inspiration for the lover part. I thought: what could be calmier and happier than dreaming of being on a rooftop with a good friend, staring at pink skies? It sounded like magic to me. I really like the evocative lyrics of this song 💜

I always believed the best relationships start as best friends. Because you learn to trust and confide in one another.

I love the use of this rack in MEGAN movie, and Tay sounds terrific on both versions. I wish she used the word "courage" instead of "the nerve", as in the UK ", nerve" means something critical and isn't befitting the energy of this song. I think it means something different in the US, more like courage or you "were brave" and touched my hand. Usually, she is so perfect lyrically.

Yeah you’re correct. I’m in Canada but we use nerve the same way (and others, like “you get on my nerves” lol). I think it kinda stems from nervous and that feeling of butterflies. So to find the nerve to do something is basically the same as getting past your nerves, doing something you’re nervous about takes courage… so yeah you interpreted it correctly, that’s really interesting you guys don’t use it the same way over there! I love learning those differences in language. In Canada we mix both UK and US so sometimes I don’t know what’s what lol

I think it's the same in Australia too. I personally wouldn't use "nerve" in this way, but more as a negative. But if other use it, I guess context helps to interpret the intentions in the word. Aussies have a few phrases or wordings, that I think most other English speaking countries wouldn't use the same way, that can be negative or positive and somehow you just naturally know. An example is "mate". We can use it to mean our friends, or for a stranger/antagonist. For the latter, an insult (ie. c**t, f**khead) would be said to our closest friends.

Personally I do emphasize the importance of companionship and have things you enjoy doing together as this helps communication trust building compromise and that sense of living by how we love one another and this is so much true when it's about me and someone that I've because you must have to seriously appreciate enjoy each other company all the time as the most successful relationships are not centered on sex and love making. This factor in relationships are often overlooked and this ideal I have had a few conversations with Taylor who even when we are completely disagreeing or as we have done alot a simple misunderstanding from not having that sacred opportunity to spend time together have those often typical discussions about likes and dislikes and this truly has been what has been very missing in our really close intimate friendship becoming a successful relationship. I'm very proud of the difficult shadow work it's called on herself to find those easily correctable small things that do play a huge role in successful relationships. So does Taylor and mca have any common hobbies or likes that we can ask each other what are your plans babe about going bowling for just an example.
