Taylor Swift Delivers NYU '22 Commencement Speech: 'Cringe Is Unavoidable'

Taylor Swift delivered a commencement speech to New York University graduates and received an honorary degree at Yankee Stadium. She joked that she was likely selected to receive the honor “because I have a song called ’22,” and advised the class “not to cringe away from cringe.”

I am not a Taylor fan by any means. But to all her detractors who clearly think they know better, let's watch them succeed and leave their mark in the way that she has. I am a retired lawyer in my early 50s. I reached financial independence in my mid 40s. If I had has someone impart such wisdom onto me when I graduated I suspect I would have done even better. Go Taylor...

She loves being cryptic with her fans and has a thing for numbers, I wouldn't be surprised if she was asked in previous years by multiple universities to do commencement but chose to wait until '22 to finally do it. And another thing, I think most people graduate college when they're 22 years old! That's if they attend college right out of high school and finish their degrees in the expected 4 years. Even more evidence that she chose to wait for this year.
