I am almost 70 and had this guitar a little over a year. It is a nice sounding guitar and easy to hold. I think it sounds good on my fender 20 champion. Plenty of sound in my apartment usually on about 4 or less. I think anyone would be happy with this guitar old or young. Comes with a nice soft case. I looked at 10 e which is also nice. Good luck and peace to all.

I just picked up one of these used in 100% immaculate condition for $400 CAN. To your point about the E/B strings being a touch high. Obviously cutting the nut a little is ok BUT just an FYI that the bridge has 3 micro adjustment allen key screws that will adjust the saddle up and down. Counter clockwise will lower it in tiny increments. Great, great sounding guitar and will be using it as a working pro!

Thanks for a nice review: just picked one off the shelf here in the UK. Glad to hear that it’s not just me who thinks it’s a great guitar for the money.

Nice review, Nate :) The Taylor Academy 10e (the dreadnaught version of the guitar in the video) is my main acoustic guitar. I fell in love with it the second I first played it in the music store. I tried many guitars that day and none sounded as good as the 10e. I even played different guitars of that model and in the end I went with the showroom model. For some reason that guitar felt and sounded incredible. I have a feeling, it might be a Wednesday guitar :) And I agree about the arm rest, that's a nice touch that actually makes a difference.

I picked one up a year and a half ago, was just going in to get some strings, saw it hanging at the guitar shop, picked it up started playing and it was like no other nylon string guitar I had played. The sound is incredible and different than my high end Martin's, it picks and strums and it's own tone and plugged in it sounds great. I did put a pick guard on it was showing some wear. It is one of my favorites!

Mine is great right out of the box. I’ve had more expensive Taylor grand concerts but this one is just right.

It took some time and effort for me to get that down initially.

I have a 2002 Taylor 314 CE, which has been my main acoustic for 22 years, but I tore my rotator cuff, and the angle is too much. I can play it for about 10 minutes now and it starts to hurt. I just picked up the new Academy 12e with Walnut back and sides, and the comfort bevel and the little bit thinner body works for me. Those 3 hour 3 set gigs are not a problem. Amazing how little you have to spend these days to get a professional instrument with decent on board electronics. I need a clear pick guard though, this thing will look like trigger in a year if I don't do something about it! 🤠

@@TheGuitarFam Actually, I found out Taylor sells a tortoise shell color pick guard specifically for the Academy 12e, it was under $20 USD including shipping. Problem solved.

Would really like your opinion on the Taylor 112ce-s. It has a cut away and there is supposed to be a better pickup system in it. Would like to hear a non biased opinion like yours, instead of the reviewers who have music stores. None of our local stores have one. Thanks for the video on the Academy 12.

I had one for 2 days and sent back. It came with very high action and the new walnut version was just plain ugly. I was very disappointed. I check and the one I received wasn’t even close to Taylor sting height spec.

Sounds like you got a lemon. Sorry to hear that. What did you end up getting instead?
