Reading Bill Bryson’a a short history of nearly everything. Had to pull out my microbiology with taxonomy textbook. Thank you for your detailed presentations they are helping immensely with understanding this tip of the iceberg.

Wait for it. You said that, and I immediately thought of "Unless you're the Mongols" CrashCourse. I love your programs. I really like these because they don't drop the specific information for the sake of being entertaining, and yet still can add in fun bits every once in a while. I enjoy learning this way, thank you for helping me become a better scholar.

Thank You Hank for acknowledging the constant change in our understanding of the world. It amazes me that even just 5 years after this video went up, the taxonomic system has changed so much that my college Biology of Organisms course has to teach an entirely new classification. Science has made a victory in the description of Supergroups and the integration of the meltingpot that was kingdom Protista into groups which better fit their traits and evolution (just as you hinted might be a good idea).

This is how I chose to study for my biology test :)

Hi, i love crash course, been using it since 3rd grade and now in 7th and still using it. This is my first year in a middle school where we do mid-terms and crash course has helped me prepare for history, physics, biology, and chemistry. one of the most mind blowing things that taxonomy taught me is that while the relation between dogs and seals doesn't seem too far fetched (especially looking at the skeletons) that they're both also relatively closely related to bears was a shocker to me

Later Carl changed his last name and became somewhat "Royal" so his final name was Carl Von Linné which is his now commonly used name :) I'm from sweden and I love your videos :)!

Did you know that Carl Linnæus is on the swedish 100 kr bill? (Or, for now, at least. The apperance of our bills will change pretty soon. Linnæus will be replaced by the actress Greta Garbo.) Also, it's feels so strange to hear the name 'Carl Linnæus'. I've always refered to him as Carl von Linné (which is the name he got after his enoblement. It's also much more commonly used in Sweden.)
