Two months earlier on July 20th, 1975 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #82; and on October 19th, 1975 it peaked at #10 {for 1 week} and spent 18 weeks on the Top 100... And on September 14th, 1975 it reached #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's R&B Singles chart... Between 1973 and 1982 the five Tavares brothers had fourteen Top 100 records; their next biggest hit after "It Only Takes A Minute" was "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel", it peaked at #15 {for 2 weeks} on August 29th, 1976... In 1974 they had their first #1 record on the R&B Singles chart, a covered version of Daryl Hall and John Oates' "She's Gone"...

The young artists can NEVER hold a candle to the great r and b of the 70's. Half the time, we had no idea of skin color...KC and the Sunshine band,...all we cared was could we blast it at a house party! Maybe the insanity of the world should take note that we are all humanbeings..post Vietnam, gas crisis, but boy could we dance!!

This is what a group sounds like when they're not a total studio group. You'd go to a concert and actually hear them sing. Man, I miss those days.

i got my license in 76-i had the 8 track player going too in my daddy's 74 fleetwood caddy. i'm not braggin, i was just very fortunate. man that car was huge!-like drivin' a mf'n sailboat...lol

I relate! In MI we danced at clubs to these in mid to late 70s! I was a clerk for SOM; recall getting thru tough days after dancing/partying all night! Same the next wk! Hearing this makes me wanna dance, maybe even under the influence of 1 or 2 :) Isn't KZread a blessing? We can revisit a time & place for awhile! I recall dancing at "Bonnie & Clyde's" in Lansing, where a cute tough guy named Joe frm NYC wld be out dancing w/his shades on & a nice haircut -- we all had a crush!!! Good times!!!

It's incredible and you're right, even better. Like fine wine! :) And those growls aren't on the studio version - woo-hoo! But such smooth vocals too. And I can't get the beat out of my head, it's almost like a Latin beat? And the calling in the background (to fall, to fall). This version has such a raw energy to it, because it's live, I guess. I just love it, I hadn't heard this version. It's now my favorite version. :)
