Let's face it, most of those who play Warhammer 40K are into grim dark, period. The Tau don't bother me. I can play them or any other faction.

Not gonna lie. if I was a human in the 40K universe, I'd totally make my way to Tau space. That doesn't by any stretch of the imagination mean that I actually think they're the "Good Guys" just my best bet for a good life comparably.

I love the tau because they show how grim dark the 40K universe actually is! When you compare them to the rest of the universe you actually appreciate the grim dark nature of it. The tau are refreshing. Without the tau it’s just:

If someone appreciates the golden age history of other settings but can't appreciate one setting that is still in that golden age then they just don't appreciate proper story telling. You can't have all factions at the same place historically, that would just be plain and boring.

Although imagine if they worked with the imperium and help fix each other's problems and weaknesses they would be unstoppable almost😅
