Tatsuki Narita | Paganini violin concerto | Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition 2012
20 years old Tatsuki Narita from Japan playing the Violin Concerto No. 1 in D major by Niccolo Paganini in the finals of the Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition 2012 in Brussel, Belgium. Narita was awarded 2nd place in that year's competition.
This was originally from the actual competition, and was uploaded by The Violin Channel. But there were no complete first or second movement in the video. So I did it and upload it from the Queen Elisabeth Competition website, with help from Bandicam.
I. Allegro Maestoso - Tempo guisto 0:36
II. Adagio 22:40
III. Rondo. Allegro spirituoso - Un poco piu presto 27:57

Unbelievable performance! Technique totally in service to the music - the ultimate statement from a pure musician! Please spell his 1st name right.... more people need to hear & see this!!
Just watched the Baranov (1st prize) - Bold choice for him with the Shosty, ehh with the interpretation. I'm gonna go ahead and say that the result came down to politics in the jury. It was unwinnable for Narita, and for some reason that kid was propelled to the top. Narita gave the superior performance.
Wow!! He is really Really very very good !!
I'll save you the trouble… It starts at 16:27 - Personally, my favorite part of the cadenza was catching people's silent, envious, cold, slightly annoyed expressions… 17:40 18:09 18:30 18:55

Bravissimo. Grazie ❤
my favorite paganini 1 performance by far
Paganini would be proud...
Tube
16:29 for the cadenza .... outstanding! Might be my favourite ever. There's passion, musicality, tenderness, superb technique, and not overly showy (but all the technical brilliance is there). What more could you want? :)
one of tje best concert i ever heard. congratulation to narita and the orchestra

2nd and 3rd were better than first no matter what bs the jury decided "politically"
Ah, velocity. In professional baseball young pitchers think that knocking a batter's head off is cute. It's not. In professional football young quarterbacks think that throwing the football through a receiver's chest is cute. It's not. In music young virtuosos think that playing at the speed of light is impressive. In this case it is. Even the orchestra was really into this performance. The vulgar comments and obvious jealousy have no place here. If you can't compete grow up, shut up and go lick your wounded false pride in the corner. Oh, you might try practicing your scales. If we are ever visited by an alien species certain to be more advanced and developed than we are I would say to them "Top this!"
Fenomenal. Para su edad y su propio género. Impresionante.
pretty impressive...however, his playing lacks the last ounce of bold virtuosity and supreme musicality we hear in the performances by In Mo Yang, not to mention Sarah Chang and Michael Rabin, but I'm really being unfair mentioning their names

ehm i think u are wrong, this concerto is more virtuoso than mo yang and sarah chang paganini concertos. I didnt listen to michael rabin version, but anyways this is the best performance of paganini concerto in my opinion.
