This is an awesome western from the past.I cant figure out why they would only make thirteen episodes of such a good show.I dont know if its just me or what, but i love all these older tv westerns. They dont make em' like they used to.Shows used to have some meaning and some morals kinda taught in the story lines.Thank GOD for the internet and old shows.

Tate is an American Western television series starring David McLean that aired on NBC from June 8 until September 14, 1960. @@alphonsozorro7952 ,,,,,, Those "morals" are a replacement for evolution's survival of the fittest by violence and deceit. Sometimes it requires violence to back up those "morals". It is called becoming 'civilized'. But there will always be those who seek to rule over others or destroy them. These days it is Marxism by using the weak minded to claim 'victimhood' at every turn.

Delmus Ingle ...if you delve deep enough into politics, Illuminatti, & Bilderberger Society you CAN clearly see who is trying to "rule over & destroy others." If you search the internet very deeply for the purpose of the Illuminattie, & Bilderberger Society you will find pictures of those in political power who are guilty of such desires. Power, greed, pride, wealth, & position mold the spur. You may or may NOT be surprised to discover the number of US presidents involved in the effort to bring about a One World Order (gov't), mostly DEMS but, the Bush's included. Can you imagine a ONE WHOLE WORLD PRESIDENT "WITHOUT" it being a DICTATORSHIP? I mean, WHO could POSSIBLYmake them step down, OR have an election to replace the "ONE" WORLD POWER HEAD? Huhuh. WOULD NOT HAPPEN! Remember Obama saying, "I want to be the 1st ONE WORLD PRESIDENT..."? AND LAST, of course! The plan was to break this country down like he said, he wanted "to "FUNDAMENTALLY" CHANGE (our) AMERICA." THAT is why DEMS were/ARE so-o angry that Hillary didn't get in! SHE WAS SUPPOSED to finish the job on us! They found MANY MILLIONS of $$ in Obama's Taiwan home that he stole from us! But for GOD we would be puppets right now OR, WORSE- BE DEAD! No, you don't have to take my word for it- look up what I told you! You'll find out! it's there!

Some of the best westerns failed to gain an audience, perhaps because they were too dark. Rod Serling's "The Loner" didn't last, nor did Sam Peckinpah's "The Westerner" Tate was created by Harry Julian Fink, one of the best writers of the period. A lot of excellent shows never got the ratings they deserved -- does anybody recall "East Side West Side"? At least via the Internet we can review some of the classics.

@TACOMA98405 I agree completely on that one. I didn't even understand the premise. On the other hand, one that I never watched at the time, but come back to on KZread was/is The Restless Gun. It was an adaptation of the radio show The Six Shooter, and while John Payne wasn't the equal of Jimmy Stewart who starred in the radio version (which never did get a sponsor) it was one of the better half hour westerns as long as you didn't think about it too long .

Watching this episode, I wonder how Tate was able to buckle on his gunbelt... must be difficult with one arm. Fron one scene not wearing it to the next with it strapped on... I would like to see how he manages it. I have a few of them and they require two hands to fasten.

People with handicaps frequently learn to overcome them. I once hunted geese with a guy who had lost the use of his right arm to polio as a child. With ONE arm he handled a 10 gauge shotgun, a side X side double barrel, and did it very well. He also drove an old hotrod Ford stick, and speed shifted it, while holding the bottom of the string wheel with his crippled hand. People can and do amazing things when they have to.

The title segment of this show is pathetic, that’s not a fast draw, his grip on the pistol is all wrong, his aim is ridiculous unless he shot off someone’s foot. Either the technical advisor was off sick that day or he was completely ignored.
