The Tata PUNCH belongs to a family of solid SUVs from the manufacturer, positioned as the smallest sibling to the Harrier and the Safari. Can it PUNCH above its weight? We headed to the highest tea estate in the world on a pure 4x4 track to find out.
Kolukkumalai, perched 7,130 feet up in the Western Ghats on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, holds the title of the highest tea estate globally. The peaks here are tall and craggy, featuring steep climbs and rocky trails. Getting up here isn’t easy. You can either trek up the mountain or hitch a ride in the 4x4s that jiggle, bounce and crawl their way up here. The views are spectacular, but so are the drops. This isn’t a climb for the faint of heart. The trail is just 17km long, but it is super tricky - rutted and rocky, with extremely tight hairpin bends, and even steeper climbs. Forget 2WD cars and SUVs, the locals know they will break down and don’t even allow them up here, lest the stricken car block access to the tea gardens. Only 4x4s are permitted, driven by local drivers with experience on this trail. So, the question remains: Does the PUNCH have the capabilities of grown-up SUVs? Compact SUVs often give off the impression that they’re just hatchbacks on stilts - hatchbacks with heavy lipstick and jacked-up suspension. Does the PUNCH break away from that trend? There’s no better way to verify it than by putting it to the test.

Many KZreadr describe Punch as underpowered car, but EVO India took it in difficult terrain of highest tea garden, where only 4x4 are running. Tata Motor should describe it's engine as exhaust note as Biker do as a it's plus point, and feel like driving Diesel Car. First Sandakfu and now Highest Tea Garden. There are a few video available on KZread doing off roading in Ladakh. Punch has proven it's SUV character, Tata Motor should upgrade after sales service as International Brand.

Bro he also says same . Capability and power are different. Dont mistake both. It is underpower if u rwce 0 to 100 in 19 secnds is underpowered.offroad is not only about power. Force ghurka is89 ps power but it is very capable

It's true that the engine disappoints but the rugged build handles the roads of Assam very well.. unmatched ride quality for a small car.. PS.. I love my punch..

Great models from Tata. In my town nearby there is no showroom or service centre made us think twice or thrice. Pincode 534260. Suzuki or Hyundai keep sale point near by open places during festive seasons. Lot of bookings help the dealers. Suzuki recently started new showroom and service center. Thanks to Suzuki. Hope Tata as Indian brand needs to learn implementing more showroom and good quality service centers. #TataMotorsCars

Sandakphu is way harder than this plus the altitude is 12000ft above sea level. Anyways punch is such a capable car!!!
Suspension is good, ground clearance is good, but Tata punch is low performance vehicle because of its slugish 1.2L 3 cylinder engine,the probability of driving it alone in no load condition may not be the case for everyone, for most of the cases cars might be loaded with 3-4 people during vaccation hilly travel so we can't expect the same performance during personal usage as engine is slugish, actually your driving skills are awesome which is actually making the punch to move uphill not the performance

Creative variant should have shark Fin antenna and wireless Android auto and Apple carplay. Creative sunroof should have wireless charger and LED headlights and LED foglights.
Try that with 5 passengers.

Tpms is now available in top variant. I think only hill assist is available though. Hill hold should've been given

Tata should launch a 4x4 offroader powerfull bigger engine,tyre, punch like thar.
Tata should replace it's engine with the previous nexon engine... Then everyone left far behind in this segment

I have a punch for which I have replaced the engine in very 5000 Kms and the engine got replaced (Started giving missing issue in 2000 kms and they replaced the spark plug saying spark plug issue. actually it was second cylinder oil leak caused spark plug burst, still faces engine missing issue. Within 1.5 Years half of the time my vehicle is at showroom. Very pathetic customer experience. Now again the vehicle is dumped at showroom for engine missing issue after engine replacement. I lost my faith in TATA. Please stay away from TATA to have peace of mind. Poor Quality service and poor customer service. Now again the car is daigonised with missing issue and cluster malfunction. I am done and dusted with TATA motors. I have even approached them with vehicle upgrade and exchange, as they denied vechile replace policy.I dont want anyone to have the same situation. Please stay away from TATA Motors. #tatamotors #Tatamotorlovers
