Tasting fresh Bitter Kola

The best thing about walking around in the village with your children is discovering a lot of new things with them. Like when we found Bitter Kola on the ground.
Ezenwa always takes the time to teach them, opening the fruit with all his patience and letting us try it.
Even if we didn’t all enjoy the taste, it was a hands-on lesson in Igbo culture. Bitter Kola, or Aki Inu as it is called in Ala Igbo, is known for its medicinal benefits, including boosting the immune system, aiding digestion, and reducing inflammation.
Definitely an import lesson for the kids.

The first thing you do when you find a fruit is to look to see if the tree is there.

You know why we have strong teeth? Just watch how Ezenwa uses his teeth to break/crack things.
