eye water is the literal translation since the Korean word for tear isn't tear but uses the word for eye and the word for water. Kinda funny how that's technically the right translation but sounds terrible lol Honestly I thought the name eyewater fit Shuttle very well. Ridiculous, goofy, direct and to the point aswell as the sheer charisma needed to rock such a name. Every other pro player gets a tap on the shoulder and gets told "hey that name isn't the best translation" and the bloke changes it. Shuttle walks into the English casting booth and taps them on the shoulder to say "hey call me Eyewater" then jumps into the game with Shuttle as his ID.

Artosis is clearly a Protoss name. Original, clever, a little futuristic. Tasteless is right there with Mind and Sharp, it's a description of his play. Probably doing a bunker rush or 4 pool.

Completely agree that Artosis has the Artanis-type Protoss vibe. I don't think it detracts from it, it feels in-universe. I think unlike Mind and Sharp, Tasteless is self-deprecating / diminutive name, which makes it more similar to calling yourself sOrry. Think about it how it feels when you lose to someone named sOrry as losing to someone named Tasteless compared to losing to someone named Sharp. The only thing counteracting the self-deprecating name is that the just the first letter is capitalized which makes it feel like a title, e.g. imagine if his name was "tasteless."

'soma' means BODY in Greek. think of the word 'somatic': of the body, used in DND to refer to spells that require bodily motion to cast. 'psychosomatic': physical (body) symptoms originating from the mind. 'chromosome': chroma (color) and soma (body). there is also a great game called "SOMA" about what it means to have a body, highly recommend soma is god-tier name

It's just perfect, elegant and simple with a meaning that fits his revolutionary DT style in the PvZ matchup. Plus his insane technical skill is analogous to a skilled knife-wielder. He isn't about brute force, but rather his incredible finesse. Just a perfect S-rank ID. Definitely the best on the list.

'tasteless' actually sounds worse, though. It literally means 'considered to be lacking in aesthetic judgement or to constitute inappropriate behaviour.' it's like a mild insult, why would you call yourself that?? it's like calling yourself 'scruffy' or 'gauche' ...actually ive changed my mind, gauche' actually sounds like a pretty cool ID.

Hmmm going back to the old days… Boxer is a sweet name (SlayerS_’BoxeR’). I also love Grrr (XDS~GRRR). Also props for iloveoov. A lot of the old guys had their clan tag in the name, so ignoring that just call them GRRR or BoxeR.

I prefer Queen to ZerO. IDs that are named after units/structures in game make casts confusing and I love it

You know, it'd be great to see how you rank SCBW players through all time. Not sure if you'd go with the most "important" players (i.e. Boxer, Bisu, Reach, people who uplifted the game and the scene) or the "most skilled" players (Obviously Flash, but Bisu, Jaedong, etc) or if you'd go "greatest accomplishments" (Flash Jaedong Nada Oov Savior). But I think that'd be a video where you could explain a lot of intricacies of what happened, why people were good, what metas the game had, etc. Nal_Ra, Yellow, and Stork should fit in one of those categories, too.

I love Larva. I used to watch his streams when he was young, living alone in the room and doing crazy things. Now he is streaming like he is enjoying his family and kid. Also gained a lot of weight, but still crazy good zerg player.. 🙂

NGL "Artosis" is the MOST Protoss sounding name I have ever heard.

I see a lot of hate towards Firebathero's ID, so I want to even the odds a little bit. I think it's a great ID and an easy S. It has a punch, it shows the player can be a little cheeky and a showman which also fits FBH's personality. Firebats are not used all the time (you're not a bland Marinehero) but in specific situations, they can be the chad units. If some unit in the game should be a hero, it certainly should be a firebat. Props to him

I just rolled my eyes when he put firebathero in S tier, I assumed after that point hes either joking or his opinion is just completely meaningless on this.

Scasri means 'sweep' or 'monopolize' something like those mean. Also quite minor but also long lived cleaning tools name. But he wrote the Korean Roman alphabet wrong.

For me, the only 3 names I would have in S-tier would be soulkey, bisu, and maybe soma. I generally don't like any common 1 word english names as IDs. My least favorite ID from a BW pro I think would be Britney. Eyewater is equally as bad as well. I can tell you the worst BW team name...that was when KTF changed their name to "Fingerboom" for like a week before they changed it back.

If I were a pro gamer that wanted an ID in a foreign language, I would ask a native speaker if it was weird or awkward sounding. Shuttle could have literally asked any native English speaker about "eyewater" and they would have told them it's a terrible and awkward ID. If you're just a random newb playing online that's one thing, but if you're a pro gamer you know that your matches are going to be broadcasted and commentated and you have to think about this stuff.

Artosis is better at SC1 than Tasteless. And Tasteless is better at casting. Thats how they balance themselves.

i go by the id fartosis. i can confirm to you its top tier and artosis would most definitely agree.

Gamo deals with Marriage in Greek & has an indo-european etymology to it... I MIGHT be wrong, but in certain dialects I think it can mean or relate to sex/fucking too. Just saying. For my alias I had so many that I tried & made up in other languages or in Old English and stuff (LoTR levels of thought went into some of them). But I have felt for a long time that *'Cronkonium'* - i.e. turning my name into an element has felt the most natural & yet also felt very specific to me. Did that right around the turn of the century/millennium before I even started even liking science too - maybe it was the science fiction that still drew me towards it, plus I was only 8 in April 2000.

There is the caster called Artosis, then there is the player called Artrosis. Google the second if you don't understand.

I like that Flash for a Terran player puts a lot of emphasis on his mechanics. He wouldnt have to be the best but if he wasnt a tier 1 player to live up to it his ID would have a lower rank for sure.
