Very enjoyable video, I drove my Series 3 from the Sunshine Coast to Margaret River in 2015 then back to the East Coast again in 2017, had a fantastic time in the 1977, I hope to drive around Tassie very soon.

I use Geoff's tip on static timing from another video and it's kept my Series 3 running beautifully on 95 octane ever since and check every time I do my monthly once over, it's even got to a point I don't bother with my timing light as I find it easier using this method.

Haha, OMG how is it I have never found this channel before. I had a series III 30 odd years ago. Went everywhere in it. Exactly the same as this one. With mine I spent more time under it than in it. When I listen to the video I can tell you what every rattle is 😂. I fitted a 186 Holden engine to it but it was just never the same, it certainly did not like water crossings that's for sure. In hindsight I would've kept the original engine. Had alot of fun in that old bus though and learned a heap of mechanical skills to boot 😂

Enjoyed that! I like the Holden conversions you guys did down under. I love my 2.25 petrol and it suits our country lanes, but I always feel on long trips a big six would just give it longer legs. The old IOE Rover six sounds great, but those Holden motors are what it always wanted...

Trouble is............. the Gearboxes couldn't take the Extra Torque . Transfer cases were strong enough . An Overdrive Gearbox from a light truck made everything Great .

Struggling to make out what you're saying with the engine running: what's the full name of that Australian army DT shovel (Deep Trenching maybe?). What era is it from and where may I pick up one so well engineered. Thank you.

John Michael Richards, ET (entrenching tool) the one in this one is Damon’s who is still currently serving so it’s the actual current variant that the ADF use. If you want one any Aus army surplus store, eBay, gumtree.

Hate to say this but that is not a shovel, it is a spade. A shovel is used to move coal etc. from one place to another, a spade is used for digging (out).

Badly timed Holden red motor, and a poorly worded history lesson, and poor mic techniques. You offer a lot. Now deliver.
