In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

    I've finally nailed the difference between NZ and UK. There is usually no room for vagueness in the NZ taskmaster tasks. "Throw water the furthest. Your time starts now." is a lot less vague than "Throw the water. Furthest wins. Your time starts now." Alex likes to play with the minds of the contestants a little more. And it gives him more chances to answer questions with "All the information is on the task."

    No, no, no, Paul... The task was to throw the water the farthest. 'Farthest' is measured from point of leaving what the water escalates from (hand, bowl, whatever) to the point of being halted in momentum. So, when you dumped the water on yourself, the distance thrown is from the container to where it struck your body; walking afterwards has no relation to the initial throw. Also, Chris, water tossed from the pier into the lake is measured from the container to where it struck the lake; where the water drifts afterwards has no relation to the initial throw.

    Perpetuating the myth that corsets were oppressive is not worth 2 points. It's worth 0.

  • @no3namesalike

    @no3namesalike

    27 күн бұрын

    Corsets are oppressive IF you are required to wear them, either by law or by cultural/societal pressure. Any article of clothing, particularly if it inhibits movement, has the potential to endanger the wearer's health, and/or the requirement to wear it breaks down along gender lines, is potentially oppressive. This is illustrated by hijabs. Hijabs are not oppressive by themselves, when worn by people who have freely chosen to do so. If you are forced to wear one and the consquences for failing to do so include ostracization, imprisonment and death, then it's oppressive (i.e. see the women's protests in Iran). Failing to wear a corset in many places in the 18th-19th century marked women as impoverished, insane, morally (and even physically) unclean and/or possibly selling sex. Wearing stays was pretty much required for women to participate in society. That's oppressive. That's not to say that corsets are inherently evil or oppressive. They're not. They provided serious back support to women in the laboring classes doing hard physical work. Many women wore them tightly as an aesthetic choice. BUT, if failing to wear one bars you from normal social life, that's textbook oppression. If you choose to wear a corset/stays nowadays, cool. I can choose to do so or not. Neither of us will face serious consequences for our choices. The choice is key.
