    I think the silence of the studio adds to the humour so much. Some of the outtakes is just these seven idiots giggling uncontrollably in the studio.

    From what I recall to get the audience sound they showed the final episode edits to like two smaller socially distanced audiences in a theater and then mixed the recorded reactions together and synced to the episode. So we end up with a smaller but still decent “live” audience sound, but the poor cast only had each other and the crew reactions to play off of in studio. Which definitely lead to some of their giggle fits 😂

    Def worth mentioning that because of the combo of moving to Channel 4 and Covid, a lot of people found the show at this time. So I imagine for those who didn't start at Series 1, a lot of peoples first season is probably this one. Also, I can't remember if this has been mentioned before over other reactions of the show but during lockdown, Alex started #HOMETASKING giving people at home tasks and having them send in their results which were then posted as a compilation on youtube with Greg giving out points for his favs. And that was also a huge time of growth for the show, so there is some really special magic about those times for Taskmaster.

    Never got why people don't love this series. The absolute insanity is perfect: - Daisy 'vanishing' a cow - Johnnny throwing balls at the coconut for ages - Katherine tiptoe running - Mawaan trying to fill an egg with helium - Richard trowing a paper plane with egg on it Equal parts baffling and impressive from their perseverance.

    For me personally, it’s not that I dislike it. I think there was only ever one season of UK Taskmaster I actually disliked. It’s just that this one ends up being very forgettable. Without going and looking it up, I genuinely can’t remember a single task that’s going to take place in this series. That makes it rank lower than the series where I can totally picture the tasks and hear the jokes by the contestants.

    @@KaiLucasZachary Fair enough to each their own. Idk if it's my strange brain memorising everything TM related, but I can think of at least 9 tasks from this series (obvs not including ep 1). One task might is up their as one of my favourite all time tasks, making cocktails silently. It's so straightforward and so silly that it tickles me just right.

    Richard was the first contestant to have acrively campaigned, in public, to get himself onto the show. Notably, not the last. For audiences, they were basically non-existent for Series 10. For 11 and 12, they found a workaround, in that there were socially distanced audiences, but not in the studio - they watched the epiaode in a nearby movie theater and provided authentic reactions that were dubbed in afterwards. So until real audiences returned in 13, nobody in the studio had the energy of an audience to bounce off of at all. In addition, all of the contestant seating was also inside of perspex boxes that they entered and exited for going to the stage. Very importantly, remember that every task had to be heavily redesigned with Covid restrictions in mind. So the kidns of tasks they came up with were dramatically limited. Especially this season, since it took everyone by surprise.

    Richard Herring was a big star briefly in the 90s and has lots of friends from back in those days who are now world famous like Steve Coogan and Simon Pegg. I really like his stand up. He also had one of the first successful comedy podcasts and he's had some really huge guests on. He does the podcast in front of a live audience in a theatre and it's a good vibe.

    Darn Greeks... hemo from "haimo" = blood rrhea from "rhoos" = flow Because sometimes they burst in the blood flows. I guess that becomes a hemorrhage, which comes from the same two roots as well. But yeah, we don't do phonetic spelling in ingglish.

  • @firstsurname7099

    In actual English (rather than 'merican) we often diphthong words with ancient greek etymology including using ligatures and digraphs for the written form so the word is haemorrhoids and tis therefore phonetic (see also oestrogen, paediatrics etc)

    Johnny Vegas is a national treasure. Also if you watch some of his early comedy from when he was young he would just get completely shitfaced on stage and do the most debauched things. He used to throw pots live on stage as part of his act and one time he threw up into the clay and then continued to make a pot from a combination of clay and his own puke. But yeah. Just so naturally funny and kind of unhinged.

    One of the reasons I don't like this series as much is the new super-strict Greg. The tasks already feel extra tough this series and Greg hammering hard on the DQ's doesn't help. The 2 in this episode won't be the last tasks this series where nobody gets any points. On a lighter note, you're gonna love Johnny this series because he's like this the whole way through. And I found that despite being hesitant at first, by the end of the series, Mawaan was my favourite so I have a feeling he'll grow on you more too.

  • @AmazingChi
    @AmazingChi27 күн бұрын

    The vanish task kind of annoyed me because it was make the "biggest" thing vanish. Technically, Mawaan made the smallest thing vanish, but he did the best 'vanish'. He should have been last with a bonus point. But this season is great, IMO. It certainly has one of TM's top moments in it at the very least.

    Daisy's got an accent that we associate with stupidity but it's the voice of a woman who's written a couple of brilliant shows - "this country" is the sort of "personal experience comedy" that I think many people have exactly one of in them (though the story of how she and her brother just scraped and fought to make it is fascinating), but she absolutely cemented her reputation with "am i being unreasonable"

    You've sort of got Daisy May right and wrong. In application of tasks, she's a bit dopey and all over the place, but don't equate that to intelligence. She's a fantastic writer and co-wrote one of the best comedies in the last decade.

    S10 different from the other series, and I get why people rate it badly (compared to the other series) but it's still Taskmaster so it's still amazing. I do think Richard Herring is one of the weakest contestants ever though, at least in the studio, I'm just not a fan of his humour I guess. Don't think if there had been an audience that would've been any better. As for Daisy May Cooper - you should watch the show she stars in "This Country" absolute English icon. Johnny, Mawaan and Katherine are great too.
