This entry in the Adventure Island series plays somewhat shorter than some of ( tasvideos.org/1061M ) the other ( tasvideos.org/1866M ) games in ( tasvideos.org/4462M ) the series ( tasvideos.org/3327M ), but it is no less straightforward.
This is an improvement of 759 frames over the previous run of this game.

Given the close bonds that Hudson shared with many companies, I wonder if they managed to get themselves a devkit? This is impressive for 1992.

They certainly didn’t use the standard devkit instruments for the SNES (GOOD, but I figure Yuzo Koshiro would know better)
Can you do a TAS run of Adventure Island the one that looks like a Metroidvania game?

No lo ubico pero éste parece chafa, lento y en extremo fácil a diferencia de los del NES. Esto no me parece adventure Island en absoluto

Realmente achei bem ruim a jogabilidade dele, bem lento. Os antigos são melhores!
Didnt know this exist.. I thought it all stopped on adventure island 2..a remake of this gem would be fantastic
I never understood the praise for Adventure Island. It’s just a knockoff Wonder Boy Hudsonsoft created when trying to port Wonder Boy on the MSX. This game looks quite nice though, and that Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack is icing on the cake.

Since each series diverts significantly after the first game, it's more proper to call it a spinoff series. The focus is on island-hopping vs. the more fantasy-esque atmosphere of WB. The core AI series (on NES) also focused much more on simple action than on the RPG elements that WB was known for. The arcade-style gameplay is what gained the series fans over time. Plus a lot of people like the dinosaur riding mechanics included in many of the games. It wasn't until Super AI 2 that it truly resembled what WB was known for. The short answer is that some people simply preferred the Island motifs to the Fantasy ones.
Why do the game still needs fruits to survive
