[TAS] NES Monopoly "4 CPUs" by FractalFusion in

Ойындар

This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/717M.html. TAS originally published on 2006-11-21.
While the CPUs were distracted, FractalFusion (tasvideos.org/FractalFusion.html) changed the dice on them and then left the board for a few minutes. When he came back, all the CPUs were crying. The fraud squad is still investigating.
This movie aims to defeat 4 CPU controlled players, ceasing to press buttons on the controller after as little time as possible. Luck is manipulated for the first 1:08, and then the CPUs are left to lose by themselves without requiring any further actions by the player. Watch a resync (github.com/alyosha-tas/NES_re...) of this run being played back on a real console ( • TAS - Monopoly "4 CPUs... ).

    If this TAS is fully repeatable with the exact same input sequence, the RNG is almost certainly an algorithm (perhaps pre-seeded with information like player/CPU names, player/CPU token choice, etc., or just given a fixed initial value), which takes the previous (or initial) RNG value and spits out a new value (which is then stored for the next call), giving a new value every call until it ends up back at the first value, then repeating this same chain of values while the console (or emulator) runs. This is what Super Mario 64 used (pannenkoek2012 has an extensive explanation on his Uncommentated Pannen-channel).

    I'm confused about the time "01:07.67" I guess this was made before any form of speedrun community rules were created. Maybe they can update this video to include the actual time of the run, "Timing begins when you hit A on the "Press 'A' to Start Game..." screen. Timing ends when the final CPU player's "____ is bankrupt" screen appears. " So it looks to be around 2: 13 to me 0:14 - 2:27

    The timer ends right after the last input is "pressed" by the TASer. If this were a speedrun, then the timer would end at the end screen, but in the case of a TAS you count how many frames have passed before the last input. This is roughly how it works.

    That’s when the TAS stops pressing buttons entirely, it manipulates the board to bankrupt the other players the rest of the game while no input is being pressed

    Which is probably why an HD version had never been uploaded before. It makes me suspect someone may be going through and uploading HD versions for any old videos thar don't have one yet. (You may think HD is pointless for such older games, but it gives nice crisp pixels and colors, and allows the video to uploaded at the original 60fps. Non-HD TASes do look noticeably much worse.)

  • @xxEzraBxxx

    @xxEzraBxxx

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ZipplyZane No, it’s because back then high quality encodes did not have 60fps bc youtube didnt support it until 2015, and the fact that due to changes in youtube video compression older runs are compressed badly by youtube even at high quality, so they get re-encodes. also at higher qualities youtube allots more bits even to lower qualities

    All the players who went bankrupt go to the corner of Baltic & Oriental Ave where they will find a half eaten sandwich in the garbage, eat it & then find a Community Chest in hopes of getting $200.00, only to find the card that says they won 2nd place in a beauty contest. Then, their stomachs will start gurgling & they won't be able to hold in their assets anymore & just liquidate right in the hat, right there in the street & then finally... A cop shows up & wants to see some ID. Get it?
