TAS is a form of cheating. If you can't speedrun the game without doing that, your run doesn't count. Come back when you can do it legitimately. If you want to see real speedruns, look up GDQ and watch the ones they did live.

ignorance is a form of slavery. you haven't seen a single gdq for the last 4 years, as all of them had a tas-block, which is always a highlight of the event (schedule prime time, following news articles) due to its supreme tech demonstration, as well as replaying of some impressive tas runs on actual consoles. that latter part implies that TAS runs **can** be replayed on real consoles, which means no cheating was ever involved in creating them. as for legitimacy without tas tools, there are lots of people that do tases of great quality and also are skilled in console speedrunning. also, tons of tricks that are found by tasers are then replicated by the RTA crowd, and tases also rely on strats developed by RTA people, so our communities are very productively working with each other. finally, if by cheating you intend to imply that tasvideos has ever showcased a single tool-assisted run as real-time human play, you're simply lying, because marking all such runs properly to prevent any confusion is our official requirement for all encodes.

the use of the horrible hawks to boost through the graveyard segment was amazing

For those who thought setting up a TAS run would be easy, just go ahead and try to TAS-run any game, I dare you. Due to the amount of work and knowledge involved, getting a decent TAS run is not easier than ordinary speedruns by any means. TAS bots can only help you with frame perfect input and they do not possess any extent of flexibility, it's still up to you to optimize and calibrate the actual run.

At 11:10 when I first played the game I used keyboard macros to autofire (though I never broke the 4 on-screen limit that TAS can). For some reason whenever I used it and jumped around a bit it would skip the first 2 phases of the fight completely, which could be useful.

i think he spliced at the beginning because i couldnt see the beginning, and yes ik this is TASed but it looked spliced

so... to people who keep saying that this is hack/cheat, you saw the title and came to watch this video, correct? and im pretty sure you saw the three capital letter "T" "A" "S", which stands for Tool-assisted Speedrun/Superplay. now this is the real problem here, if you didnt know what TAS is, then you should have just googled it before you even watch, or you should had be able to get more or less what TAS is, but you are still saying that its hack/cheat, serious?

zomgdrhax that for me was easiest by far. For some reason kraidgief was the one i struggled with alot...

May I please have the TAS file for this? How the heck was this done? More skips could have happened, though. For example, pressing E+N+D at the Guy boss would skip it, saving a few minutes.

@Yournameisshown19 ? Yeah it's a TAS, but the game has a hard limit that you can only have 5 bullets on the screen at any given time. We want to know what exploit has been done to allow you to shoot the truckload of bullets like the TAS here does.

It must be because of the TAS aspect. Some glitch allows for multiple shots to be fired within the same frame, thus bypassing the limit of the number of shots on screen.

It's a glitch, if you shoot to the left first you can shoot as many bullets as you like, but you must keep shooting the whole time.
